Severance

Good stuff. I’m vaguely hopeful they’ve got a tidy narrative arc over x amount of series and won’t artificially drag it out for the sake of it, especially given it’s impossible to now rehash anything we’ve had so far. S3 will be markedly different!
Yeah, should be 3 or 4 seasons tops IMO.

I was getting annoyed that Mark S didn’t leave straight away when the Cold Harbour file was finished.

I thought the dry ice for the entertainment bit was going to be nerve gas or something to kill off the innies.

Also surprised that Milchick was still trying to do Lumon’s bidding.

You can guarantee they will do exactly this. It's the industry standard for maximising profits

2 year wait?

Bugger....

Very good TV. Best I've seen for a long time.

I want it to end next season. I'm not even sure how to wrap it up.
It could end now and I'd be ok with it.

Well that was just abut the biggest WTF ending in the history of WTF endings.

Please tell me we are not going to have to wait two years to learn what happens next?!

Just watched the finale. I'm in two minds about it (ha..).

Very interesting observation I saw on Reddit:

Cold Harbor was about testing whether the barrier could hold and a severed person not feel anything their outie would have felt. Of all people, it was iMark passing that test and feeling nothing for Gemma at the stairwell door in the end.

Why would Mark S feel anything for Gemma? It's not his wife, to him she is Miss Casey and he is in love with Helly. I'm confused. If he went outside he would sever to the outie, but while on the other side of the door he was the innie. Or is that your point? The barrier between the 2 minds holds?

Interesting, but we've always known that haven't we?

ETA - ah! The barrier held for Gemma and then also held for Mark - they were ensuring trauma doesn't cause a bleed of both consciousness. So yes, 2 successful tests for the price of 1!

What an amazing, original show. S1 finale was edge of the seat stuff, same as finale of S2 - loved windmills of your mind playing during the Res Evil ending, very apt.

I was so annoyed when i saw that thumbnail before i watched the episode. I quickly scrolled away, but didn't realise it was a painting, i thought it was Mark and he was frozen, laying in the snow/ice.

My mind started going into overdrive, maybe it was HIM who had the car accident into a frozen lake and the thumbnail was part of a flashback to the accident. His body was kept alive by the freezing temperatures - and all along it was Mark who was in a cryostasis and we were watching his mind trying to claw it's way back to reality. Or Lumon was real and they had picked up his body and were in his head doing their thang.

Quite a decent ending, not being a huge cliffhanger will make it easier to wait for the next season. i think we got all the answers we needed for the most part.
I do wonder where they were intending to run to in the final scenes?!

I dont 100% trust that was Helly R he was running with, i would not be shocked if somehow that turns out to be Helena Eagan again

The security room has a bunch of capabilities such as the overtime option, maybe there was a way to switch her even when she was on the severed floor

Overtime in MDR? ;)

I think it was Helly, everyone was too busy in the carnage to do anything about an override.

I think Jame is looking to get rid of Helena and leave her as Helly - with the intention to convert her to the Kier mindset. However, no idea how they will give Mark S and Helly their honeymoon ending with his outie and Gemma still around. Weekend visitation rights?!

I was disappointed with the conclusion of Cold Harbour. I expected something more sinister and complex, but it ended up solving a problem that never really felt like an issue.

What else could it have been? That was Gemma's ultimate trauma,

I thought it was going to be her car accident, skidding off the road into icy waters and effectively drowning, but the lost baby things works too.

Will be very interesting to see where they go with season 3.

Some thoughts on what they could do:
- Outtie Marks consciousness tries to fight back against innie Mark, completing reintegration.
- Gemma’s story is the fight against Lumon to free Mark.
- Ivr comes to help his friends.
- Explore the deeper parts of the severance floor, the “people might live here” area of Pete’s map.
- A plot for the innies to leave the severed floor while still being severed. An uprising.
- Milkshake siding with the innies and helping them.

I imagined it would be more about Lumon trying to extract and transfer the consciousness (for nefarious reasons), using the goats as vessels to store them. With trauma acting as the key to unlocking the final piece of the puzzle...something along those lines.
