NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

In the queue for a Suprim cos that's the one I like the look of most. Sure there are others dropping, especially a lot of Palits lately but I just don't like the look of it. I do like the industrial look of the astral and aorus cards as an alternative but I'll be eff'd if I'm paying 3 grand for one

You need to lay the groundwork today by letting everyone know you feel a bit unwell today. Mention it every 6 hrs or so and profit!

I woke up this morning to see that my 5090 has arrived at my local DPD depot, which is only about 2 miles away.

The groundwork was laid and I'm now officially diseased. The wife and toddler will be going to the in-laws on their own.

EDIT: Literally 4 seconds after posting this, DPD have just text saying that it will be delivered between 8:17 - 9:17 am this morning.

Hahaha! You have knocked this one out of the park. "Diseased" means you should be left alone for a few days while you quarantine with your brand new card. Really chuffed for you mate after all this time waiting.

Cheers buddy.

There's nothing like a bit of complete and utter dishonesty to signify a healthy marriage. :p

Just what the Dr ordered. Remind me, which card have you coming?

Just out of curiosity are people still waiting nearly 2 months since the 5080/90 launched for a card? I got a 5080 launch day as I couldn’t get a 5090, but 2 weeks later got a 5090 founders albeit at the original £1939 msrp(and sold the 5080) I’ve also bought a 5070 a few weeks back at msrp to replace my 4070 rig. Just using discord and stock checker app I could have bought these cards multiple times with next day delivery and not wait on a back order with my money.

I’d recommend if anyone is still on a queuing system for a card to ask for your money back and just use stock notifications. Yes there are particular brands with different coolers etc but at this point the wait must be tiring and any card would do!
Any card will not do! Locked in for Suprim, not paying all the money for something I don't particularly fancy

Yes and no. Couldn't get either a 5090 or 5080 on launch day. However I got lucky as there was a member selling a brand new 5080 at MsRP and a very good friend had multiple 5090 orders fulfilled and he sold me his brand new, unopened Suprim 5090 at MSRP. Of course during that time I enter the pre order and I am still waiting on my order to be fulfilled. Which is still another Suprim 5090. I was going to cancel it. But I think see if it gets fulfilled. See if anyone here wants it for MSRP and then go get an astral and aorus ice master. I am more than happy to wait until they become available.

Unfortunately I am insanely picky about what cards I want. If I am going to pay 3k or whatever for card then it not going to be a Palit or Zotac. For years now I have always had a Suprim and always had a Strix The only card that springs to mind which I loved more than suprims and strix is the 4090 FE. And this is no disrespect to anyone who has a Palit or Zotac either. You get what you can get at these supply issues time. But for me I know what I am like. During the crypto/covid time when 3xxx series were hard to get hold of. Even though I managed to get a EVGA 3080ti at the time I hated it, cos it didn't match my build and I couldn't accept it. I have since learnt my lesson since then ... kind of. So I will get 3x5090 for my setups that way I have all bases covered.
Completely understand this, Ive had a Palit 3080 10GB at launch not a bad card for £700 but had quite a bit of coil whine. I also had to settle for a Zotac 4090 at launch as that’s all I could get and I couldn’t wait to get rid of it when the 5090 came out as the fans had terrible motor noise so I ended up using my 4070 FE machine more as was silent. Luckily this time I’ve got a 5090 FE which is whisper quiet, with minor coil whine.

Saying that my 5070 is a Zotac only because it was at msrp and I thought I could return it if it wasn’t any good and it’s a millions times better than the 4090 I had. Think I just got unlucky with the 4090 as Zotac shipped poor fans on their initial batches of AIRO extreme so it wasn’t just me affected. I do think Palit and Zotac are ok cards for msrp or £2100 but £3000 you are getting scalped by a retailer for a bog standard card!

You have proved my point though that even wanting a specific brand card you don’t have to sit on a preorder queue, you can get via friends or stock alerts at reasonable prices and not be scalped by retailers or even worse the auction sites!

1000x this.

For these prices, in no way is ‘overpaying’ acceptable. Nor is getting something that you didn’t really want… why do that?!

Waiting > overpaying > paying for something you didn’t want

@Gibbo - Any word on PNY 5090s coming into stock? I don't believe we've seen a single one so far, and if I was to go for a near-MSRP card (ahem), this is the one I'd go for as always had good luck with them.

Would be nice if the 49 people in front of me in the queue suddenly agreed with you

I guess there are two types of 5090 shoppers, those that just want a 5090 of any sort, and those set on a specific model of card. So far, this week has been quite good for the former which is probably causing some in the latter camp to get itchy feet.

5080 this 5090 that... Am I the only one waiting for a 5070 ti preorder? And am I moron for it? Never tried stock notifications but seems pretty awful to be in a permanent state of launch day rush...

Watching some hilarious and sad stuff go on at a large online goods reseller... Palit GR comes in stock at £2136, it disappears in an instant (not even seconds, certainly grabbed by a bot) only to be reposted minutes later by secondary buyer-seller for £3500. Dark times.

I have had one in my basket for checkout a couple of times but never went through with it. Not interested in the Palit, just trying to see if it could be purchased. :D

Hopefully those sellers will run out of suckers sooner rather than later. Having said that, a three letter retailer is still selling them for £2750. Crazy...
