Gamers, What's Your Audio Set Up?

that's ok they're normal speakers. Some have unusual connection the ones I had with RCA, speaker cable so they were proprietary to the unit

The AC-3 is just the decoder...not the speakers.

Those speakers are nothing special, you can easily get something better off Facebook marketplace for £50 that beats it. Like any old Mission or B&W bookshelf but if you want to keep them that’s fine.

I will keep them for now. i will eventually upgrade it. I am not going full balls on this!!!

But if i can replace my phillips hifi with just a tiny hifi amp. LETS ******* DO THIS!!!

A couple of potential options within the budget

Fosi audio pair which is more than enough speaker and headphone amp power + Mic in

Topping mx5 all in one unit which is enough power but no headroom for more power-hungry speakers if you change

SMSl combo unit with more than enough speaker power but the headphone output isn't really specified

What is more important? Speakers or Headphones?

Because you can get an Headphone amp without the built in Dac too. Like if you get the WiiM amp, just uses its RCA out to a separate headphone amp.

i have a budget of £100 for some monitors so i can watch shows on my pc and occasionally listen to music without headphones. Any reason not to go with the edifier MR4? seems like its probably the best i can get in that £ range.

I have these and I don't think you will find a better option for the money.

this bloke thinks it sucks lol

never heard of that reviewer before. I can see the appeal of both, for a small 2.1 system bedroom system the Wiim amp / amp could could be ideal. Certainly it would be good enough for my PC setup. Is it a compromise of a AVR? Yes as I have option of HDMI in and out etc. I am using a AVR.

I doubt most would want a huge AVR taking up space on their desk, I have a huge desk if it was normal size a AVR would take too much space.

YouTube algorithm strikes again.

Wiim are releasing a DAC/stereo integrated amp. No streamer built in though, so you'd pair it with a Wiim Ultra.

If I was starting from scratch (and choosing everything Wiim) a Wiim Ultra & Wiim Vibelink Amp would function in the Hifi system.
Wiim Ultra in the Home Theatre.
Would need to think of what in a PC, as it is a Wiim Amp Pro would probably be ok although lacking HDMI is concern, if wanting a Xbox/PS as well. Saving desk space 4x the size could be worthwhile.

It certainly has a lot going for it.

(I do have a Musical Fidelity X-A2 though that can be use on a desk. Which could drive basically anything.,all I need is a WiiM Mini though.)
