The Radeon RX9070XT / RX9070 Owners Thread

I'm not gonna surprised if AMD/Nvidia shift production to the UK to avoid these tariffs. I guess good for us, no way an average American is paying 60% more for a graphics card or anything electronics.

Do any of you guys use Linux with the 9070 XT? One of the reasons I'm switching back to red is because I was fed up with the driver situation with Nvidia on Linux. Even with the latest kernel and drivers, there were still ridiculous issues like no HDR support, no freesync, etc

Teething issues on launch make sure to use a latest kernel/mesa/firmware but it's still far better than nvidia

my reaper xt continues to surprise me, was messing around with efficiency in cyberpunk and settings 4k high no rt no fsr etc

default at 304w:eek: 73.59

Cyberpunk-2077-2025-04-03-19-21.png

-80mv 2800mhz fast timings -30 power 70.37@ 212w:eek:

Cyberpunk-2077-2025-04-03-19-26.png

so thats nearly a 3rd less power for only average 3fps less, thats crazy efficiency fair play

Quite the turnaround, I was sure you were headed back to team green with all the issues you were having :-)

Just installed my Pulse 9070XT and tested with stock settings. Looks like I've gone from 160-170fps to 220-260fps in Warzone with a 5800X3D. I suspect that may hold it back slightly at 1440P.
I'm well out of touch for Radeon tuning as I've been on Nvidia for 5 years. Any pointers would be most welcome.

Edit: Its nearly 25deg cooler than my 3080 anyway so that is a bonus. No coil whine, System is silent!

Initial impressions seem good. I've got it sitting at -45mv, VRAM up at 2714 with fast timings. GPU and hot spot temps were only showing a small difference of around 5-6 Deg but I can't remember if that was stress testing or gaming. I've only had a short amount of time with it.

From stock to the undervolt the hot spot temps dropped a massive amount. I'm pretty sure I gained more performance in Warzone but hopefully I'll get some more time with it tomorrow to confirm.

Had my 9070XT Aorus Elite for a couple days now and wondering if anyone is in a similar situation to me:

My particular card seems to REALLY hate any form of memory overclocking. Even pushing to 2614mhz causes major screen flickering and eventual crashes. If i go much higher than that, to lets say 2700+ i get an immediate black screen which the driver never recovers from - Icue ***** the bed and my RGB gets defaulted to rainbow puke, can hear fans in the case start to spool down and the only fix is to perform a hard reset.

Other than that, the card works flawlessly in every way. Did i just get extremely unlucky or what?

So I moved Black Ops 6 over to my main 1TB nvme in slot 1 and removed the slot 2 nvme. Bizarrely the game did run better but I'm still lower on fps compared to where I was pre reinstalling Windows yesterday.

Excuse the crappy picture, the left is benchmark results now, the right is before the machine got wiped and when I first got the card. Everything is identical settings wise, only the card is noticeably slower now than it was.

On the plus side, no crashes at all, fixed one problem but stuck with poor performance.

I'm getting very tempted to return it at this point and go back to nvidia, I may just be unlucky but AMD graphics cards have always been crap for me, flaky, unreliable and full of quirks and this one is just the same. I've had this card a week now and done almost no gaming and spent most of my evenings faffing about trying to get it working properly :(

You got a different newer version of BO6 in the left screenshot. Maybe the updates caused some performance regression. Seems like other people are also seeing big drops in fps after some patch updates.

If other games are giving expected results then BO6 itself is the issue, not the 9070XT.

Looks like you got unlucky. My mem is stable up to 2800 with fast timings enabled and I think pretty much most cards do at least 2700 with no issues.
Are you running any other offsets when testing these mem settings as the other settings can impact how fast the memory runs.
For example I can't run 2800 with -175mV UV, 2730 is the max there, but can happily run 2800 at my game stable -95mV.

I have noticed that I am around 30w idle regardless of whether i'm stock settings or OC settings. This is a lot higher than my 7900 XTX 12w at idle. Is anyone else running high idle figures like me or know why this could be? 4k @ 144hz, HDMI 2.1 @ 10bit HDR

To be honest a VRAM overclock adds essentially zero FPS. Think just over 1% at best and you get the picture. So you might see margin of error increases in benchmarks let alone games. I got a bigger increase in score closing a browser and retesting :)

Steel Nomad goes from 69 stock to 70 when I add a VRAM OC to 2760 or so with fast timing.

The big increases will be undervolting and even that gives diminishing returns below about -50mV.

My advice is get Optiscaler, check if it works for your game, enjoy FSR4 and play games. ;)
