Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

Looking at the pre-market i am about to cry. I assume the counter Tariff from China is causing even more turmoil.

So your saying its not worth buying stock and shares unless your willing to wait 10 years to make a profit ? or locked away for that period of time? seems abit long doesnt it ?
There's investment with a long term goal.
Then there's short term "gambling" as they here like to call it.
There's a lot to learn it's probably not worth it.
Tbh it's mostly BS. When the world rises every one goes up, when like now it's sinking everyone is suffering.
You can learn to read signs, but it's more like human psychology than anything else. Some people always predict doom some the next big thing.

At some point people will just swap tack and accept what's going on and numbers go up again.

If there is a preset portfolio that is managed by a provider that i could say right here is my money, place it in what you think is best - this maybe a better option for me

Multi asset funds/Trackers etc - Unless you have great market insight or you fully understand the reason for your trading/buying shares etc. Stick with the basic stuff and don't overcomplicate it.

Depending on your timeframe for the money - Just leave it alone.

I'm a minimum of 8-9 years to retirement, and then potentially 20-30 years after that of drawdown etc - Left everything invested as it has been. Changed nothing.

Long-term investors should stay invested and ride it out (ensuring they have a well diversified portfolio) - Trump is volatile enough to suddenly decide to pull all the tariffs off the table and the market will jump again - you won't be able to time it/get it invested quick enough.

Yes I'm fully aware this is a "trading" named thread but most people in here are probably talking about their pensions/long term ISA etc.

Just sold intel for a 60c markup per share. Will probably rebuy tomorrow if it dips again.

Made the mistake of looking at my S&S ISA and pension just now. :p

Its OK, i'm sure Trump has got a good plan in the end and he isn't just an incompetent half-wit who is going to make a mess of the world.

Was going to put some money into my S&S ISA today as well. I think that perhaps instead I should just start building a bunker.

On a related note. I have a monthly payment into my pension which is index tracker based and I am considering cancelling it for the time being and just hoarding it in my bank account earning a bit of interest until things settle down. I fear that any amount I put in now will just tank. Anyone else thinking the same.

What is considered bad jobs data?

Non-farm employment change data just came in at 228k to the forecasted 137k, so the job market is extremely strong, meaning no rate cuts
No rate cuts. Have you seen the markets? Yields are crashing and they are now pricing in 5 rate cuts this year lol

Obviously bad data would have just added fuel to that. As always though the previous months were revised down and unemployment ticked up.

stop what jobs coming back to america and americas GDP climbing?

unless pension funds are about to go bust I doubt anything's going to happen in the short term.

USA has had enough of making China and other countries rich.

In the US people's pension are linked to the stock market. They ARE going bust.
