Next week they get the MG tattoo.

where is the logic behind that? seems unfair to me if "family" cars are forced to clean up their act but rich peoples play things get a pass. Also some sports car manufacturers exempt until 2035.
i keep hearing this but surely that should not be the case. look back to where the infrastructure was in 2015.... it it incomparable.Still not sure we'll be ready by 2035 though it is 10 years away. A lot of these changes instead of forward investing to make them a reality seem aimed at putting the pain on consumers hoping they'll kick up the stink to force changes - such a cynical dysfunctional way we increasingly seem to go about things.
Same for cars really - 2030 target is just going to make a mess of the used car market and put the pain on the most disadvantaged in society without an intensive program of investment into things like the charging network first.
is it really tho? I know that is the excuse being used but it has been widely reported that this was going to happen before Trump .... the bed.The america tariffs is the main reason for the relaxation - thinking its anything else just shows how wide off the mark you are.
Let be honest the luxury car tax was barely fit for purpose when it came in, let alone now regardless of EVsSurely what this government need to do is reduce the silly luxury car tax on ev's as well and make them more attractive to purchase...

dont get me wrong, i love the sound of a V6 / V8 / V10 or what ever in a super/hyper car but allowing them to keep using engines that other companies are barred from is nonsense.
The other day in an SC thread, one of the reasons you gave for offshore windfarms being a bad idea was because they would disrupt tides. You mean the main excuse. Net zero is killing the car industry, much like the rest of the economy.

that said.... it is true that we seen generally utterly incapable of getting anything done, so maybe it is true. it takes the .... however. Other countries seem to manage to have better infrastructure than we do as well as actually build stuff without going over budget by billions.
i have friends with EVs who have driven accross europe and they claim (I have not done it myself) that once out of the uk, places like France are a breeze.

it is rubbish if they never replaced them.... but actually i would say it is better not having them at all than then being there but not working. (however sadly both options are rubbish) but personally as someone who actually does drive an EV (not a dig, honestly! but I am speaking from experience) if i am on a road trip and know i need to charge i can in advance easily check where the charge points are. There are loads so finding them is easy......... but the thing which personally gives me (mild) concern is getting to them and them being out of order.I think the infrastructure in my area is WORSE than it was on 2015. The council installed a bunch of chargers, they stopped working or got damaged, they removed and never replaced them lol

So if your area the people who put in the charger are so utterly incompetent that they cant keep them working (OR you area is so full of anti EV scrotes or thieves who like to vandalise or steal the cable from them) then getting rid of broken ones is an improvement.
I think the infrastructure in my area is WORSE than it was in 2015. The council installed a bunch of chargers, they stopped working or got damaged, they removed and never replaced them lol. In the town obviously most people live in flats, so no EVs for them.
Most seem to have disappeared from Google Maps at some point this year, but there was around 6 sites within 12 miles of me which have been on the maps for years showing as available but beyond the marked bays slowly fading away and a post for the signs no actual chargers were ever installed.
One of them the Nissan dealer near me - if someone was desperate they'd run a cable out a nearby window but the chargers never got installed (again removed from the maps finally some time this year but were showing since at least 2020).
I agree but ev's are impacted more than ice vehicles because they are more expensive. There needs to be a higher incentive...Let be honest the luxury car tax was barely fit for purpose when it came in, let alone now regardless of EVs
less so now. I have no issue with luxury car tax for actual luxury cars - EVs or ICE cars....... but it needs to be implemented better.I agree but ev's are impacted more than ice vehicles because they are more expensive..
There are plenty of EVs coming under the luxury car price even now however so I am not sure the luxury car tax is that big of a blocker for getting an EV. At least the government are not going backwards on the luxury car tax costs on cars sold a few years ago like they are with the standard taxation.
Kia EV9 /thread.Looking for a 7 seater EV to replace my Model Y - Twins on the way...
