The Radeon RX9070XT / RX9070 Owners Thread

Games seem to be okay on -90mv for me. COD, Avatar, TLOU Part 2 etc.

Frustrating that I’m missing out on 4fps (74vs 78) vs what @Kirkatron Nitro achieved in an excellent write up, I must say!

Is Avatar running OK for you? Mine runs great then drops down to about ~20fps and gets stuck there. Running in borderless is OK but the second I go fullscreen GPU usage plummets. There's no overlays or other apps running in the background so I'm baffled.

Avatar is working great. Getting double the frames as my old 7800xt.

The games that gpu utilisation fails to get above 90% is Spider-Man remastered and even with Framegen its low 90% for gpu utilisation.

Horizon Zero Dawn complete edition seems bottlenecked by my cpu and is running at 90% gpu utilisation with 100% cpu utilisation.

Hope driver updates fix these issues.

With the most upto date drivers the 5070ti is falling behind I didnt expect this

Screenshot_20250409_102329_YouTube.jpg

AMD's drivers do tend to 'Fine Wine' over time, especially when the architecture is brand new as it is here.

The thing about all of this is Nvidia pushed the 5070 Ti as far as they could up against the 5080, i would say a next level tier GPU is +20, its not that, the 5080 is 15% faster than the 5070 Ti, if the 9070 XT gains another 10% its a 5080 in terms of performance.

On a side note i'm not sure i like that way reviewers name match AMD / Nvidia GPU's rather than price match, sure its = to a 5070 Ti, but the 5070 is the same price.

This is my post on what happens to mine

It's awful, will randomly drop to ~30% utilisation for no reason.

What settings do you have on/off in Adrenaline? It feels like a conflict or something happening there.

I turn all the hyper RX stuff off. Only have FSR4 enabled at the driver level. Everything else off (anti lag, enhanced sync, free sync etc).

Impressed by the steam deck, I recently switched to Linux since getting the 9070 and I can tell you it's bloody fantastic!
Windows was giving me some infrequent crashes (not GPU related) and stuttering leading to me having to restart, no such thing on Linux so far.
I have managed to overclock using AMD GPUClocks, set the overclock I figured out in windows and have had no problems running at that speed.
At one point the card let me push the wattage up to 270 rather than the 240 watt cap but I can't get it to it again without it switching to safe mode unfortunately!
Shame because I was hitting 3 ghz clocks in game at 270 watts!! - (Reaper 9070 btw).
Fedora 42 KDE is my distro of choice.

Anyone else tried Linux yet? if you need any advice on it hit me up!

Is the "Fine Wine" thing actually a thing or is it more a myth? I thought it had been disproven? At least in AMD don't tend to gain much more than Nvidia do over time. I thought they had one period where they made a big improvement but generally it might not be, relatively, as big a change as people make out?

Regarding the comparison, I get what you're saying. There are probably people that have a set price point they want to hit that would prefer the comparison by price and another set of people that have a performance point they want to achieve that prefer the comparison that way.
To be fair, it's sort of on AMD for copying Nvidia's naming scheme. Wasn't that for comparison reasons? What's the point of changing your naming to that of your competitors if not to indicate cards being at a certain tier? If AMD had wanted the 5070 non-Ti compared to the 9070 XT, maybe they should've called the XT the non-XT and moved the non-XT down to 9060 XT?

As in right click on desktop > display > advanced display > Display adaptor properties for Display * > List all modes
you were right lol i tried a few different ones and one of them .. well i need to work out my res setting and set it right but yeah youv fixed the problem well i have but was your advice that led me to it you were right lol MASSIVE THANK YOU!!!! i really didnt want to send this gpu back ive got rather attached to her lol

Great stuff, glad you've managed to sort it. The photo of your screen just looked like the colour bit depth was set to something like 256 colours, not a faulty hdmi port/cable, which is what led me to where I asked you to look, to see what modes were showing, and to re-select the correct res/colour bit depth etc for your monitor.

Who is going to flash their card? haha

I was just going to post this lol, had seen that it had been done but it's interesting to see the actual results.

It's a pretty daunting task if you don't have a dual bios card which I do not since I have the Pulse.

Typical that my XFX 6750 XT had a dual BIOS and I didn't touch it once the whole time I had that card. Even with a dual BIOS I'm not sure I'd wanna mess around with my shiny new graphics card and risk turning it into a £540 paperweight

I got my 9070 from a high street retailor whose name is similar to an Indian dish. I doubt they would have the expertise to find out what I did if I did try this and it messed up and I returned my card as having developed a fault.

Peak core is 3342
memory 2505
That's fair bit over stock Sapphire pure?
gpu 56 max
hotspot 78 max
memory 88 max
amd no fan disabled so always at least 600rpm

all fans in bios (case and CPU) set to silent low rpm so pretty good!

No OC just undervolt

Will run some games with freesync/fps uncap and see what GPU-Z max core says
