I thought I'd make a thread for this seen as we have threads for other religious sacred days.

Good Friday is a day of commemoration of the life of Jesus and his sacrifice to be crucified on the cross.

It is a day of reflection, to be humble, to appreciate the things we have and the people we know.

Back on track - is it today Christian’s aren’t allowed to eat meat….I may have just had a sausage bap, hole my soul is damned for eternity!
Yes, as jesus sacrificed his flesh on this day, some Christians make the sacrifice of abstaining from consuming it. I don't think it is particularly widely practiced.

@Ayahuasca @Thekwango please stop :)

As a kid, today was the day we collected Gorse flowers (the wee yellow bit) after the worlds longest Mass - they were boiled in the water with eggs which turned the shell brown. Then Sunday we went out rolling them - no idea why - weren’t allowed any Easter eggs till after the boiled egg rolling shenanigans.

I’m assuming it was some old tradition as no one seems to do it round here now. Any one else do something similar in their youth?
