Tabletop Warhammer?

2000pt game last night, my marines vs blood angels. Long and short of it was I had wiped him by turn 3 and achieved all of my secondaries as well as holding my home objective and keeping him off 2/3 of the mid-field.
He got too greedy too early and also crucially didn't put enough in reserve.

I played Saturday. Non meta list, took a big knight allied unit. Got destroyed by nids on points and lost all my units lol.
Didn't play missions.

I played my first game on Saturday... Tyranid 450-ish point battle (from Leviathan box) against my son's custom-cut 450-ish point Salamander army.

He reckons we drew on points, but he held one squad back on his home objective (so was fighting with only a partial force)... and termagants are useless. :D

I've had that on a few but I think all from the first wave which were apparently overfilled.

Made great progress (for me) on these lads none of them finished, the wardog with the green eye is farthest along, I think I'm gonna use oil wash on a few to see how I do there. A few things, firstly I've gone too far now if I want to magnetise the other weapon options on the Dominus/Tyrant, the only way I could do it now is by buying the arm joint and armour panel, and then not ever glue the top on which is perfectly doable/workable.

My other thought it the Dominus/Tyrant is too much orange, I couldn't work out another colour to put on the lower leg panel so I'm thinking I will just put quite a lot of decals over it, maybe look online for some general chaos ones etc. Going forward, I want them to all be one cohesive thing but I think I'll paint additional ones a contrasting colour, maybe even have some totally on their own colour to mix it up a bit.
I've used TTC Doom Metal for all the trim, unsure (if I even do it) how I'd edge highlight that, maybe a darker silver like iron hands.

I've not really got the hang of glowing effects at all as you can see by these attempts on the exhaust holes but I think I did well on the eye with a small attempt at OSL.
Oh, wow!

I am relatively new to this sub... and now I feel like I have no right to be here! :o

Of course you do. Most important thing I learned was compare yourself to your previous attempts at painting, not what others can do. People on here are always happy to give help and advice, it's one of the least toxic hobbies I know of.

I think I fall into the "all the gear and no idea" bucket. :D

I've just started painting miniatures with a view to starting (slowly) a Grey Knights army, but it has been about 35 years since I held a paint brush that wasn't used for a wall...

So obviously I had to buy an air brush, too.

Don’t worry I have painted the same set of space wolves for the past 3 years!!

I’m just addicted to buying paints for models that I will never get around to painting :D

Theres a doubles tournament coming up at battlefield birmingham on 21st and 22nd june.

Anyone interested in going?

Got an EC combat patrol, made sense as I wanted at least 6 flawless blades anyway, so for an extra £20 IO get ten infractors/tormentors and a lord exultant.

Spent all day on my noise marines Saturday and still not close to finish. I tried batch painting, I got two layers of of trim on at least and everything at least once in the body.

I messed up on the arms/weapons though as it means I need to White out the main parts for the colour tints. I am wondering if I just cover the arms with cling film or the liquid putty and spray them white. It will undo some of the trim work but perhaps save time overall. Mind you, now I look at it, really the biggest pain is the face at the front as it's black on three of them. Hmmm. I'm also very worried about the gloss and blue oil pinwash stage because from this distance I'm thinking I'm not even going to notice a pin wash. And I dont know how they'll look after I gloss and then mix ultra matte and satin (or go straight satin).

Luckily the other models don't look so annoying to paint, although I haven't actually built any yet lol.

Current state:

Can't see a pic so unsure if I showed before but for some reason I was getting a strange reaction with decal set and it dulled my transfers and then I tried to remove the excess and I ended up digging through the paint to the primer.

Not sure if I bother trying to fix it or if I use this as my first attempt at battle damage on white.

Lol knew it, regular terminator and slap some fur and a few fangs on it. I mean yeah it's thematic I guess.
Like chaos stuff, add spikes. I've been tempted to get some primaris termies to kitbash as they are way bigger than the chaos ones. Would just be a pain having to remove the Aquila and crux etc.

I remember painting the classic metal versions of those SW characters for my brother back in the day. I have quite fond of the wolf fur everywhere look :D.

One of those factions that people love to dunk on but secretly want to buy and paint an army :D

Njal model might just be my favourite so far!! So much win!!

Termies can be build as melee or range!! Duel lighting claws!!!
