9070 XT - 2x HDMI high refresh displays (144 and 120 Hz) not working

Is it me or HDMI + 4k + high bandwidth output and 9070 XT don't really mix....
yeah mine seems to not work via hdmi at all which is slightly concerning
might try it with a dp to hdmi adaptor will mean i can only use 2 displays at any time but at least it would mean i can use 2 screens lol

When you say hardware limitation in the first paragraph, are you talking about a limitation with the graphics card hardware or the dongle hardware?

Also do you know of any quality adaptors that work the other way around (e.g. from DP source to HDMI output) as it's hard to tell which ones are quality? Also if I didn't have to take out a loan to afford it would be swell!
It's a limitation in the gfx hardware itself. I'll ask the display team about the adapters.

Oh that's a little concerning/annoying, so I (and the OP) bought a graphics card with 2 x 2.1 HDMI ports that can't actually function as 2 x 2.1 HDMI ports? Lovely! Thanks Sapphire!
2x HDMI isn't to our spec, no. I can understand your frustration, I've been asking internally about how any boards shipped with x2 HDMI, however that's not to say the two ports cannot be used in conjunction at all, just not at maximum bitrates.

From your testing is the 2nd port always limited to 4K120 420 regardless of the other port or could both be used at say 4K120 422? (instead of 1 @ 4K120 444 and the other @ 4K120 420)

I think our intent is to limit the second port if the first is occupied. I'm not sure what the final design decision will be for that, I believe we're still discussing how to approach this solution.

I am in the same boat! I specifically picked Saphire as I needed 2 HDMI.
A solution that allows the user to set the port specification would be good.

Do we know any more on this?
It feels like having 2 HDMI 2.1 ports is a selling point that doesn't function as expected but we're expected to just put up with it. Feels like a dirty trick on Sapphire's part (I don't know if any other manufacturers have done the same thing).

Primary reason I went Sapphire...

I seem to still be seeing intermittent issues. Not very often now but On occasion I see the following:
- maybe 50% constant frame rate drop (reboot fixes it) eg. Game that would normally be around 190 to 250 fps is 70 to 120
-mouse stutter when in fullscreen video. e.g. youtube on the web or another video player the mouse is jerky or like at a slow refresh or something. (minimize window fixes it)

I'm guessing its a driver issue, but has anyone seem something similar?

all Gigabyte boards appear to feature x2 HDMI as well.

OOC is this on Win10 or 11?

Might be able to examine the frame rate drops by capturing the DCE log (this is located in the driver store for AMD gfx, it's easier to globally search via win+s for 'atikmdag_dce.log', or just 'atikmdag_dce'). If you capture a log the next time this happens, please chuck it over to me so we can take a look.

The mouse stutter is an interesting one - does this happen during gameplay + video on secondary monitor or just any video playback?

Ud think this info would be more widely known, i wonder if stores state that using 2x hdmi high refresh monitors is not a sure thing to prevent ppl buying said cards and then get into difficulties like the OP here.

Stores give out info that may stop them from getting a sale?

I'm sure they will, retailers are generally very kind.

Thanks for taking an interest in this. Ill send on the log next time it happens.

I am on Win10.
The mouse stutter is strange for sure.
There may be a nuance to it that I havent picked up yet, but so far I've noticed it only on the primary monitor when something is at full screen. could be a game, video in web browser, or other video app.
I can't think of anything else that I would even run in fullscreen TBH. but it does seem random so far and quickly rectified by minimising and flicking back to full screen.
Is there something else I might try to isolate things?

Do you have browser like edge in economy mode where it makes browsing really crap especially for scrolling or watching videos.

Or could it be a mouse poll rate causing mouse issues?

Do you have ReLive Instant Replay / Radeon Overlay enabled?

Not that I know of! I'm not even familiar with them. This is a new build on an MSI X870e MAG.
I've read of some people having issues with frame stutter coming out of sleep (PCIe reverts to Gen1 sometimes for them) but I don't think I am experiencing that.

Nah, no edge. and the mouse behaviour being very intermittent and across other apps would rule those suggestions out I would think.

If I was to try and describe it another way.... when it happens, it's as if the video refresh rate is being applied to the screen and in turn impacting the mouse on that screen.
e.g. if a video is encoded at 23fps, and I watch it back in fullscreen the mouse might feel like it is updating at 23fps across the screen.

Note: It only happens very occasionally, and the description about is a "feel" without any data to back it up at this stage.
The mouse behaves normally if I move it to another monitor.

I'll continue to monitor it and provide the log next time it happens.
