Need replacement plates as current ones are old and tired. Nothing fancy, I don't need 4D gel plates to tell the world I'm a bell end, I manage that quite well on my own.

Apparently I need the dealership's details on the bottom, is that correct?

And can I just order some online? Apparently I need to send in a copy of the V5?

Any recommendations for suppliers?

Cheers :)

Technically for it to be legal beyond the reflectivity and spacing it needs to have the details of the supplier and a british standard number.

Halfords will make them for you as you wait if youre in a rush. You do need the V5C.

If you just want standard legal plates then Halfords or any local motor factors with your v5.

no documents required , how does that work ? i could clone plates !
They're sold as "show plates" not for road use.
I've never had to show documents for any plates I've bought because I always use show plate suppliers.

The numberplate market is a complete free-for-all which is why cloned plates are so common. A recent BBC News investigation found that even the places claiming to be legitimate sellers of road legal plates often don't ask for documentation, or if they do they send the plates even if you don't provide it.

A dodgy-looking vape shop near me sold numberplates until it closed down recently, something tells me they weren't asking for a V5C first.

You need the details of the manufacturer of the plate I think.

Should be done automatically.

Supposedly, but it is a big issue.

At the moment there isn’t much stopping general public ordering new plates online for any car without V5. When I did for my Boxster, from a reputable site, they didn’t ask for documents.

Plates turned up yesterday, despite them messaging me that I had to send them the V5, they just sent them out anyway.

Will pop them on the car this weekend and see how they fare.

@Diddums
is the quality alright ?
I've just received some ebay plates and they are awful, loads of marks and dust on the print which is now trapped between the print and the perspex
I'm sending them back, so need to order some more now.

Dunno, still not put them on. Quality's not the best from first glance but then it's a number plate, I don't particularly care too much as long as it's not too crap.

Good deal here tho:
