Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [10th -11th May 2025]

Served the club well , why be grudge him wanting to play for Real Madrid only the very few get that opportunity

Their fans aren’t really begrudging him that, it’s just that he’s done it in such a way that he’s only served himself in the end.

You can say that’s just football nowadays but fans will always expect more from a homegrown player.

Mark you should start a ‘in defence of Trent Alexander-Arnold’ thread at this rate lol

It’s Owen Mk2, get over it
He’s unbelievably good but he left ina garbage way
Am just not begrudging some one wanting to experience something different in life

Rather be positive, thankful for all he has done.

He didn’t down tools like many players do, all people bring up is that he let contract run down. Well so have many players.

It’s there right to.

The whole Trent debate is tricky.

He's been a fantastic player for the club and has given it everything through its transition from bang average to top class.

On the other hand, he's leaving in a crap way, and that absolutely tarnishes his achievements. Longer term he deserves to be remembered as a Liverpool great, but in the short term fans are entitled to let him know how they feel.

All that said, if it was my career, I probably wouldn't jeopardize a move to Real to sign another contract. What if Liverpool then refused to sell him? I don't like it, but I get why he's done it.

Edit: shocker from Merino

You don’t taunt the fans with celebrations, refuse interviews and ultimately drag it out like that

100% no issue with him leaving, it’s the manner

I'm not sure you're disagreeing with what I've said, are you?

Or is your position that the manner in which he's leaving means he deserves no credit for all he's given the club?

He’s stuck to his contract and been a good servant to the club lol. He’s done nothing wrong.

Ridiculous behaviour slagging him off.

I’m not, you can respect what he’s done but be bitterly and emotionally disappointed now

I wouldn’t boo him, I wouldn’t clap/cheer him on either

He was immense and instrumental in our success (and our biggest failure during Klopp era)

I get both stances except deepthroating him like a PR rep that someone is insistent on
