LG G5

so no longer is screen burn an issue just Retina burn

Considering there is some LED TVs out there that do 4000nits and a couple models that claim 10,000nits, I think TV manufacturers must be investing into optometry because they're definitely trying to make us go blind :D

77" G5 ordered , should be here Thursday:D ..... Didn't opt fort the protection plus/ burn in protection as that is another £500 on top so hopefully that doesn't come back to bite me on the arse, will be staying well away from those bloody news channels

You know what you need to buy next :D

As for TV stand what do people use for such large TV's, self standing? I'm using Origin S2 stand this is just about ok for a 65" (even though doesn't say it's supported) but wouldn't want to try and fit a 77"

Would like a 77" but just too tight squeeze and I'd need to ditch my bookshelf pair of speakers as they're the to the immediate sides of the 65" TV

Very similar situation as i am in now, my 77" CX has suffered burn in and after a few discussions with JL they have given me a voucher for £2200 towards a new screen ( new C4 is £2200 hence the price offered )... I am now looking at upgrading to either the G4 which i will need to put £700 towards or the G5 which will cost an additional £1800 after cashback so basically a £1100 difference between the G4 to G5 once all said and done . I'm still trying to decide what to do but the G5 does seem like the one to go for as ultimately looks to be a better screen between the 2 of them with it being noticeably brighter and has a slightly higher refresh rate at 165hz vs 144hz , my only other issue is I'm shocked at the price of protect plus from JL now as when I purchased the CX was £140 extra for 5 years but now it's £500 on the G5 making me question do I really need it this time ....
Yer i was going to go g4 but when hdtvtest the g5 was a genertional leap again when hdr content is mastered that high I knew I had the stretch the budget....

Eps on a month I have house and car insurances comming out and the car needs new discs and pads so the CC is looking hot.

Still waiting on the LG cashback to come in even though the application was accepted over a week ago

As for stands the 77" G5 doesn't actually come with a stand ( purchase separately if needed ) so it needs to go straight onto the wall which is where my CX currently lives , I was actually offered an 83" C2 as a replacement but turned it down as would have been a touch too big and it's a good few years old tech wise so gave that one a miss even though I did measure up the space for it to see if it could have squeezed in :D I will be putting the 77CX in another room and will need to use the stand for that but as it's a center stand will have to have the screen hanging over the edges of the cabinet

Just need a speaker system if you haven't got one already.

The one in my LG OLED was laughably bad.

Oh that's sorted matey, run a Denon x8500Ha in 11.1 Atmos with 2 x Monitor Audio silver 200 fronts, 1x Silver C150 centre, 4 x Silver FX for surround, 4 x Silver 50 for height and a Silver W-12 .... constantly eyeing up another W-12 for 11.2 as I previously ran 2 Rel subs:cry:

Multiple subs are worth it, but you want to run identical subs all round. You don't want to mix and match subs. Also need to figure out good placement around room.

Also rather than having several lower end subs it might be worthwhile to try and get fewer, but higher quality subs, as bigger driver higher end drivers will give more impact, than a couple of Rel T-Zero for example. As no matter the number of T-Zeros, they won't go down to 10hz.

I use a triple subwoofer system with Minidsp HD. Helped a lot getting them all working together, response down to 11hz, and crazy amounts of output.

Not the best placement of subs as not dedicated room, so limited where they can go, and they're huge.

When did you purchase the G5 as currently its saying will qualify after 30 days from purchase which i assume you have passed ? But then says once approved will be up to 90 days until you receive the cash back so looking like 4 months all in ... will have £500 coming back myself from this offer they are doing .

I also signed up for the my JL membership card as they were offering an additional £300 e-gift card with the purchase but from what I can work out need to apply for that one in July.

I'd go with the 90 days they quoted  probably get yours by the end of July and I probably won't be seeing mine till September sometime :(

Ive had mine nearly a week now and can't say I've noticed the high input lag at 165hz , had a few wins on verdansk so it can't be that bad tbh :cry:would like to see another test done on it as from what I can tell its only Rtings that have done a test and recorded a higher number at 165hz and a few FW have been released since then and could have possibly decreased the number, if it is genuinely that much higher then hopefully LG will fix it via firmware updates ....

Really am enjoying this G5 though and absolutely no regrets at all , it is a night and day difference vs my CX , much better brightness and colours, and noticeably smoother with the extra 45hz :D

( only issue is I need to buy longer hdmi cables as they are now all stretched due to the ports being in a different location)
