It was cold and harsh for me coz I was one of those who had to choose between heating or eating.Cold and harsh winter ? Pretty sure they are becoming milder I think the records back that can't remember when the last time we had good fall of snow
I can sympathise with you, we run all electric with a heat pump. The house is not well insulated with draughts (I'm working on that) so it is quite expensive to run the heating during the really cold days. Luckily we had the RHI payments which helped but we had to choose a temperature we were happy with. The payments stop in August so it will be a shock to the finances to run it this winter. It was cold and harsh for me coz I was one of those who had to choose between heating or eating.
And I chose to eat coz it was too expensive to keep my heating on so I was permanently frozen inside and out.
I used to get a tiny bit of help from the government but they stopped thatI can sympathise with you, we run all electric with a heat pump. Also have had the heat pump breakdown on us during winter, not pleasant.
It's certainly been hot today in Hampshire. No rain for us though, and according to that map it's all rolling past way to the north. It's been approx 22-26C in Hampshire today, but there's been a band of heavy rain travelling from north of Hastings to Cardigan this afternoon, apparently Winchester got hammered not long ago!

I find it massively helpful. Without it, I can feel a lot of heat standing in front of the glass with the sun on them. With it, I can't feel any heat unless I touch my hand on the glass and then it feels warm.Lovely weather but working in a south facing office is getting a bit toasty, anyone tried that solar film you stick on the inside of the window? Does it make any real difference?

Always a tricky balance cycling in this weather, more effort gets you somewhere quicker, but the internal burnup when you stop having all that air wafting past you taking away the heat is a killer.lovely cycle to work weather. stopping is a bit sweaty though

I dunno about the solar film but I've got a blackout blind that claims thermal (and noise) reduction and it does work massively, the only problem is it tends to increase the amount of heat retained once the room does eventually warm up unless you've got a decent through draft (or keep adjusting it - which you can't do with a stick on film).
