Payraise.. how much do you expect? how much did you get?

I got a decent rise from min wage to 10 p over min wage , don't totally need to work , well mentally I do I suppose plus it's a physical job
I have all the trappings of a high earner (maybe not Gucci belt) so it's ok but part time is calling me again (I do 4.5 days) I am sort of proud I made it down here mortgage free on crappy pay ,helps been a boomer though

3% raise and because I took on some extra work a few years ago and have been asking for extra money for it, they gave me an extra 0.25%! Aren't I a lucky boy

I've always thought it was dumb making other people rich. I need to be self employed again

my wife's company has just frozen all pay scales and cancelled all promotions and bonuses even for those verbally promised them. . job losses are expected and that was before Trump's shenanigans.

I lose my job at the end of this year's unlikely to be able to stay in science am considering buying a van and becoming man with van for hire or maybe doing driving instructor course.... always fancied getting hgv licence (my dad drove lorries for a while) but it's so expensive and am retiring in 10 year. also have family so could not do the long haul any more
I Work in the freight game, this week ive had customers refusing to pay increased tariff rates and also requests to divert containers away from the US and into Mexico. Just 10 minutes ago I was talking to a customer who usually ships around 20-30ton a week of metal/steel products tell me they wont be shipping any time soon until they find a way out of their contract as the increased rates eat pretty much every penny of profit.

Our industry just may be decimated by the end of the year if it carries on.

I got a £900 pay rise in April which was almost an insult but..... Since 2023 I had about 20% so factoring that can't really complain.

I had about a 7% bonus so better than a kick in the arse.

Been trying to get one for the last month or so... Our team leader left Friday, I was working alongside her for the last couple of years, worked my butt off and got all the knowledge she has of the department, yet they've given the position to a supervisor off a different shift who has absolutely no clue what hes doing and they now want me to continue doing all the admin/invoicing and booking out work for the minimum pay!

I've even spoken 1 to 1 with the HR and managers about how I feel and the fact I went from zero knowledge to where I am today and feel I deserve more respect, I could run the shift no problem on my own have done when covering the previous team leader for holidays etc

What should I do?

Work to your job spec and continue to point out which tasks belong to the team lead.

Do not offer to train them. I love sharing skills and I'll happily help someone get to grips with a new role, but if I'd been looking for their job and didn't get it... I'd probably insist management handle that skill gap.

Yup never be too helpful in a job like that, won't get you anywhere.

If it's not your job don't do it, even if you can.

I work with a guy who does stuff like that, he does it because he wants to be seen as the "big I am" so despite we are on the same role, he's working his ass off all day and I'm well, not..... And if anything I'm getting more respect.

Agreed, do what they pay you for and no more. If the new TL is drowning because they don't have a clue then that's not your problem.

I done exactly this on Friday and let's just say he didn't get all the jobs done in the day, when I was asked if everyone was going to be done by the end of the day I just replied 'Not my problem' don't think many liked the response but I've lost all respect for the higher managers after what they've done

Get your CV done and leave.

Last year: 4% inflationary raise, £6k bonus, 9% promotion raise.

This year, realistically only expecting 3 or 4% inflationary, hoping for any sort of bonus (£2k+ would be great) and not anticipating a promotion, but hoping to be in position for one early ish next year.
Ok, got 5%, which is ahead of my expectations. Will find out if there's also a bonus later in the year.

Inflationary payrises since I joined the company 4 years ago are actually a little ahead of CPI inflation at 23.5% Vs approx 22%

Our offer this year is 3% plus 1% increase on matched pension contribution.

No bonuses where I work but they seem common in this thread, what fields do you work in where you get decent bonuses?

Ubiquitous in software/tech product companies. I imagine there are many people working for those kind of companies on here.

THB, IMHO bonuses are a better way of keeping and rewarding staff than an outright payraise.

I've been in companies before where staff would get a set payraise regardless of preformance, this causes less able staff to keep getting payraises when the high (gucci belt) preformers are bounded by what the company can offer to all members of staff. So they get fed up an leave.

Don't get me wrong, obvs nearly everyone should get a payraise to keep up with the cost of living, but rather than give two people 5%, if one is under preforming and the other is over preforming, give both 3% and use 4% to give to the over preformer.
That with reward shares, then the company has pretty much handcuff you to the company.
