AMD 5900x with current gen (5080) GPU

it would depend on the game and resolution, but yer i would say its not ideal.
you would be better off with a 5700x3d

if you dont have the GPU yet a better match would be a 9070xt, but that would even be a little bottlenecked

Edit: ive just see your monitors resolution, i would say the GPU would be bottlenecked yes

Somewhat yes but it's best see how the 5080 performs and gives you enough FPS at the resolution you game at before to decide.

The other thing upgrading especially if you go something like the 9800x3d is better minimum for which will keep the game smoother at the most demanding parts.

Though your talking £400 to £600+ depending on CPU.

Still worth the upgrade from a 3070, I'd say, if you're using the monitor in your sig and not just playing esports at low settings.

Depends on the game. I saw a massive difference with X4 Foundations going from a 5900X to 7950X3D at 5120x1440 on my G9 with a 3080. Yes it’s CPU limited but the difference was night and day. I would try and upgrade to a 5800X3D to try to get the most out of the platform. Cost shouldn’t be that much. Obviously depends if the focus is gaming.
