What "man jobs" have you done today?

started pulling down our shed that's all rotten, need a replacement but can't quite find any company that sells anything decent? half tempted with a plastic keter or lifetime but getting the ground level will be fun.

current is timber - what's left of it, anyone have any recommendations for a company that sells decent sheds?

Build your own, will be cheaper and better

I'd still recommend Tiger Sheds even if they aren't perhaps as good as they were. I bought one in 2020 and still looks almost brand new

I did think, timber prices are mental. It’s not going to be cheaper. Better yes as I’d have full flexibility of what it can is but even then I’m looking at £1500 ish min for a 12x8 shed
how much we talking on timber pricing..... 4x2 @ 3.6mtrs is £8 a length here, ive not spent anywhere near 1500 on a 5mtr x 2.8mtr build with box metal roof and solar panels.

New fence panels. 10 in total. Not quite straight forward as the brick pillars are not plumb. That's brick layers for you. So each panel needed a measure and trim. Turned out lovely if I do say so myself lol. :p

I recently bought an 8x6 pent shed from Tigersheds. Quality is pretty reasonable given the price.

Could I build something more sturdy myself? Yes.

Could I do it for the same price I paid (~£450)? Absolutely not.

Would something I built last longer? Maybe. For wooden sheds, I think how long it lasts is more dependent on how well you maintain it, rather than how sturdy/high spec it is to begin with.

Having done some pretty heavy DIY recently I've also realised that doing relatively big DIY projects does require quite a lot of knowledge, experience, tools and... Time.

So whilst they're not exactly that difficult a task to undertake, they're not to be underestimated and it obviously depends on your experience.

I'm pretty handy with things but time is the big one for me, it took me 3 times longer and whilst it's a good job, better than most traders, it is a pain.

In the case of a shed I'd just buy one. Maybe even a plastic one, despite the fact it's plastic...

I agree, time is the most sought after part of any plan. Everything else can be learned, begged, borrowed or stolen :).

So impressed by the Worx compact combi ... definitely on par with mid range DeWalt and Makitas that cost 250% more

Today, gonna chance it with a raintree 360 Laser leveller - lets see what 55 quid get you, can always return if it's pants

(Yes it's a man's job when spending time and money on selecting tools :D)

Cleaned the chickens out

Trimmed a few branches (with the chainsaw much to Mrs TB's annoyance :D )

Stripped and binned them keeping some bigger prices for burning

Washed the cars

Hopefully that's me done for the day :D

That's better a normal day's work, but you still had to get the chainsaw in though;)
