Lit Fibre

I went with iDNet and they said I'd need a new ONT as part of the online ordering process and charged me £25 to have it installed. Little annoyed about that but sounds simpler than what's being suggested to you.

Yes it is annoyed that I would need to terminate the line first with Lit Fibre for the switch to happen and notice that Lit Fibre support One Touch Switch as well.

Rocket Fibre was going to charge me £19.98 for a new ONT and router, toob was going to be free.

I just phoned Lit Fibre customer support and was offered a new 24 months deal for Lit 1000 at £28 per month this deal was not offered to me when I phoned up a few weeks ago.

I decided to stay with them it is not worth the inconvenience of terminate the line first before switching with toob.

just had a end of contract email from Lit Fibre. [snip]
Had the same email a few days ago... had a quick look at other services available but the only one that was (notably) cheaper was '4th Utility' (which I absolutely consider internet to be!)
Checked some online reviews and they seem to be pretty poor, I was hoping I could argue Lit down to at least the same as new subscriber offers (although I'm on 500mbps now and it's only 1p more :P , I would have been tempted to try the 1gbps though)
Tbh I've always found them very good to deal with - moving to a fixed IP was as easy as 1 phone call and went into effect in 1-2 hours, got advance warnings of all but one outages (that one was an unexpected issue that affected most FTTP ISPs in my town).

I haven't seen if Toob or Rocket are available round here, but 4th Util. seem to not be great from reviews I've seen!

Edit: Will have to try to push them a bit and hopefully get near to the £28 you were offered

Edit 2: Just looked at Zen.. they weren't here when I signed up to Lit and have always heard glowing reviews.... plus static IP included and a better router for £34/40 (500/1000).. will see what I can do!

Lit Fibre is now part on the CityFibre network see link below

I have used Zen in the past and have been happy with them but not the cheapest but you do get a good router and static IP.

If you are happy with Lit Fibre go back to them and ask, I feel that I was offered that last minute deal as I was talking about terminate the line with them and moving to toob.

Did iDNet arrange a engineer to install your new ONT box?

I'm already paying Lit £5/mo for a static IP and the 2 LAN ports on the Lit router isn't cutting it for me, so there doesn't seem to be a big difference on price. Have also been considering a Mikrotik router to reduce number of devices by powering my AP via PoE, so if the WiFi on the Fritz is enough/better then it will meet all my needs, so Lit will have to meet £29 for 500mbps or £35 for 1GB to make it worth sticking with them (even disregarding the ports)... I'm very much leaning in the direction of Zen atm, my work mobile has enough data to run off for a few days so I can probably handle a day or three changeover time!

@Simon D - Thanks again for the info on this, just called them and have secured the same £28 (+£5 for my static IP) for the 1000mbit package :D
Switches over from the day following my existing contract ending so hopefully negligible downtime.

Edit: They said it may get upto 1.2gb, but I'm assuming not as (as far as I know) the provided router only has gigabit ports, which is the same for my motherboard... might have to look at something faster there too :P

Hi all,
After a year of tolerating LIT’s own router (Calix GigaSpire Blast U6.1), I’m done with its abysmal, non-existent Wi-Fi coverage. I’m aware that the Ubiquiti UniFi system is the way to go, but it’s a bit steep in terms of price additionally I need to figure out how to do cabling around the house for APs. Currently, the Deco BE65 3-pack mesh system is on sale, I’m curious if this will work with LIT, given the use of a static IP. Thank you.

Had my renewal email (it's due up on the 24 Sep 25) with the new prices on. Lit 1000 - £33 pm & Lit 500 - £30 pm, currently pay £25 pm so not too bad. Looking around I can see Toob come in at £25 pm for their 900 Mbps offering, anyone use them? I've also seen 4th Utility 1000 at £25 pm but price increase of £ every March.

I've had zero problems with Lit during my 2 years with them so going to call them tomorrow to see if they can go any lower with their offers.

Got a call from Lit today asking if I was happy with the service and if I'd be staying after my contract finishes next month. Asked what deal they could do and got the 1000 (currently on 500) plus a static IP for £34 which I didn't think was too bad.
