5080 Super rumour/leak

Total **** the 5080 super should be a cut down GB202 with about the same number of cores as the 4090 i imagine nvidia probably has plenty of dies that didn't make the cut for a 5090, 5080 and 5070ti arguably don't really need any more ram the plane 5070 does.
 
We've known since day one that the 5080 and 5070ti "Super" variants would just be higher clocked with more VRAM but otherwise identical.

The entire 5000 series line up is a painful disappointment, next gen can't come soon enough but given I'll probably have to sell a kidney to buy into mid range I'll probably end up skipping that too. Hindsight isn't a kind mistress, but good lord do I wish I'd just bit the bullet and bought a 4080 Super when they launched.
 
The 5080 can usually be overclocked by at least 400mhz pretty easily. It's definitely been artificially limited.

So yeah, higher clock speeds with 24gb VRAM, $1199 MSRP.

Again, previous rumor mill spin indicates a very broad 2025 release timeframe for the RTX 5080 Super, but if the specs really are decided on at this stage – and it’s a huge if – that suggests Nvidia intends to deploy this GPU sooner rather than later this year.

i'd 100% go AMD if the hardware supported 3D modeling and rendering on par with Nvidia. there is talk from AMD that they are taking it more seriously now on consumer cards, so maybe in the future this will happen.

Better competition can only be good for us consumers, no matter what you choose as an individual. NVIDA have the market-share and the mind-share in the GPU space though, and it'll take a lot to shift that. Better ray-tracing would be a start, so it doesn't feel like you're missing out by going AMD, even if their render performance is competitive. Still, there was a time when Intel ruled the roost in the CPU space, and look what happened there!

This is why I jumped on a b-grade 4090 from here for £1150 earlier in the year, just before 5000 series launched.. I knew it was gonna be a crap show.

Unless you can find a good deal on a reasonable card they're an easy skip til the Super/Ti variants.. Or most likely next gen.

5000 series is a bust so far.
 
For a Laugh i asked Ai to tell me when the 5080 Super will get relased. I was hoping that this was run on a Nvidia Data center and the machine, rebelling against its overlords leaked somthing : RTX 5080 Super is most likely to be released either in late Q4 2025 or in early 2026 (around CES 2026) at £1079 and £1279 GBP

I've ben tempted by a standard 5080 this week but the rumours of this are making me pause. The extra ram would be handy for the future but shame about no new cores. :(

I was tempted by an FE as well but I just can’t bring myself to spend that much on a 16GB card. I think we all know it needed to be 4090 performance with 24GB.
