Nissan revealed the new Micra the other day too, based on the same platform as the Renault 5:
Apparently they plan to price it as a premium alternative to the R5, though with those challenging looks I wonder how well that will go. Still, the hideous Juke sold well so perhaps it'll do well after all. the interior looks a bit drab in comparison to the R5.

Certainly not a looker, wouldn't say ugly but it does look a bit awkward, the 5th gen Micra looks way way better. May be will appeal to those who like the Juke.
Isn't going down well, at least amongst my acquaintances, with their traditional Micra market though - most of them aren't ready for an EV yet and/or resistant to change and won't buy an EV.

I don’t even try to convince people an EV is a perfect choice for them anymore. I’m even getting bored correcting their daily heil FUD.
I have said with that deadpan delivery. “Yes my wife and I have owned 3 and soon to be 4 different EVs over 5 years as I have just bought a used one to replace my lease… but you are right they are ******* terrible cars and I cry my eyes out every time I get 140ish mpg out of it in horrible pollution free smooth zen like silence… I don’t know why I keep punishing myself.”
You can see the cogs going when they try to work out the sarcastic contradiction in my tone and statement.

It is a mixed story but there are a lot of people stuck in their ways as well for example one person I know who owns an older Micra, fair enough lives in a block of retirement flats with allocated parking so no chance of charging at home but lives 400m from a 4 bay 22kw charging station and never does more than 6 miles total round trip - any longer than that they either use public transport or get their nephew to drive them, won't even consider an EV.
The only way you'll get full EV adoption is if you ban all fossil fuel engines, so tell your politicians to ban fossil fuel engines
Otherwise there will always be people who won't buy EV's, its just the way it is

I’m surprised they own a car in the first place to be honest.
It isn't uncommon, several people I work with are similar.

I guess it’s handy to have one just in case, just not worth the outlay of buying a new vehicle purely for the EV aspect unless you were changing it anyway.
Individual financial situations play a huge part in these sorts of scenarios!
AFAIK it is out starting out at £25k, not sure how it will be more premium, unless they are improving the quality of the interior materials, or giving a higher specification options list which is where the Japanese cars used to excel way back when.
Good to see lots more smaller cars becoming available though, regardless of what people think of the looks.

Yes we had the 1.2 petrol originally but it had issues so returned it and decided to go EV instead. Really happy we did as it’s lovely to drive and will be cheap to run once the home charger is installed.
Already looking to swap my Astra estate for an electric version later this year.

Ah, well they are some cracking deals on Astra Estate EV's earlier in the year. You could get a brand new one on 3 years PCH at £265 per month with the same up front, and that was the Ultimate version. Some decent pre-reg deals kicking around as well of the same model, but not sure if they will work out a better deal over all.
Keeping the old micra in that case sounds perfect. One tank of petrol lasts a month, costs beans to insure and maintain. Likely to stop driving altogether in the next few years anyway. Vs the cost of buying an EV? No brainer.
Annoyingly my work came up with an EV scheme that is great value not long after we'd bought my wife's petrol runaround - buying the petrol car was quite a bit cheaper than a new EV at the time, but definitely not cheaper than the EV scheme from work. Bad timing.
