General Headphone Audio

If they can't send one to test out then I will almost certainly just buy it, higher end R2R, yes please.

I'll be interested to know if they improve the dac itself or just use the exact same one but slap on more i/o and a better amp

I would imagine so.

Slight tweak of the R2R (maybe a refinement given they are doing an R2R dongle too), but with better AMP and RCA input and/or a BT version.

Super Early Bird | Kit

About £321

i5 headphones
13.5mm Standard Cable
13.5mm to 6.35mmAdaptor
14.4mm Upgraded Cable
14.4mm to XLR Adaptor
Extra Earpads

That's actually great value.

The extra balanced cables and adaptors alone should cost about £30-40 if bought separately, the ear pads easily £20 if they sold that separately. There is also the shipping which is quite reasonable. It's basically only about £250 for the headphones if you break it down.

I might just decide to back the kickstarter whilst it's still going and then if I don't like them, then sell them after it ends at below normal price but at or above kickstarter price. Seems a win/win situation. But if I do like them, then shift the Arya Stealth, although the reviews I watched from tubers that I resonate with since they have similar tastes say the i5 is Ananda Nano class but better, though perhaps not to the level of an Arya class planar because it doesn't have the super low bass extension.

It does however have a nicer construction, nicer pads, superior cable (upgraded graphene cable) and comes with XLR adapter so yeah, a better package overall for what will be similar money to the Arya Stealth current prices.

I don't think you can lose money if you buy with kickstarter price. They said the final price will start with a number 5. I imagine this will be an easy sell at £400 used, especially if the final price be £550 or more.

The other thing is that I doubt the retail version will have all the extra stuff, I expect the retail version will have the base tier, same goodies as most other headphones on the market.

I am looking forward to the MASSIVE ear pads and I have always wanted headphones with a wood accent too.

Oh yeah massive face size planars are great!

Edit* Didn't realise Zeos had them , he sayd "I think this is better than every HiFiman under $1000" - That's some feat:

@Raymond Lin one you may be interested.

Been watching his reviews for a while, just a chilled out guy who knows his craft.

That popped up too in my feed, I watched it, no idea who he is but I guess he is a pro sound engineer who knows his sound. He likes it and his description on the bass drop off at 70hz is dead on. I don't think he has the new version though.

You have 5 more days to back it!

Yeah I did email them but the review samples sent out do not come with the upgraded cable so it's not as soft and pliable like that is, plus if I back it on KS then as you say, basically can't lose money if I sell it on afterwards so no reason not to just back it.

Picked up Beyerdynamic MMX 330 Pro over the weekend to try out and so far I'm impressed, only thing I've had to do is boost the mic by +30 db to get it at an level that people can hear me. Shame the mic isn't detachable but it's not a deal breaker as it tucks up out of the way nicely.

FiiO will be sending me a K13 R2R once samples are ready. So this is a thing now I guess

Did you get any indication of a release date, or embargo date? Appreciate you may not be able to say. It sounds like release is planned for late June, does that sound about right?
