NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

It’s quite something to own a 5090 and to play a game (Outlaws) that brings it down to 60fps (sometimes a bit less) at 4K (with 2x frame gen!). Ray tracing maxed out plus RTXDI on ultra. Looks amazing, but are we that limited by hardware progression now?

Tempted to go for 3x frame gen, but then I do start to notice a tiny bit of input lag.

There do seem to be games more sensitive to an undervolt and they weren’t the demanding games/benchmarks I was expecting it to fail on.
Good question. Possibly, if gen on gen improvements stagnant, which is likely.

Idm so long as we have scalability in games. I tried the demo of Outlaws and just turned off the highest end RT features to get to 100fps with DLSS (even performance mode is fine). Still looked pretty good. I do appreciate devs pushing these high-end features, even if I don’t use them.

What's your monitors refresh rate? Go for that?
I've used 4 x FG for months, can say I notice any lag, I limit fps to 238 (240 hz 4k monitor) Don't play multi player anything. Used to like COD but cheating made it pointless for me as I wasn't great to start with!
Maybe wrong thread, but I haven't noticed anyone 'really' complaining about FG, aside from reviewers etc. Be interesting to know the forums opinion in 'real life' gaming?
For example, much more anxiety around coil whine, if that makes sense?

120hz. Maybe I’ll try it with a higher frame gen setting. I guess I could also try DLSS quality be DLAA. Good tip.

I have no issues with the image quality of FG, but the input lag is horrible in any first person game imo. I primarily play shooters at 240fps though, so i suppose I should notice the extra input lag. The only game i use it in is MSFS.

It’s the same with Battlefield unfortunately, I do still play now and then, but the cheating is ridiculous.

Good shout regarding limiting your fps to around two less than your monitors refresh rate. I’ve been doing this for years and it’s always been smooth.

Have you guys tried Marvel Rivals? First time I try it on the 5090 today, everything on ultra native 4k, fps hovers between 80s and 90s. Had one dip to mid 50s but that was in one game, things got heavy on screen. I did have a go at Atomfall too and got 160s to 200s fps.

I’ve also noticed a slightly lower Steel Nomad score since updating to latest drivers, just about 14k

I get the logic behind setting an fps cap but setting an fps cap with mfg x4 can possibly mean that your setting a cap of sub 60 fps (real frames)

If your using mfg you’re probably better just taking the hit on the smoothing and using mfg x3 with no cap to keep the real frame rate higher with no restriction

I think you need a rr of over 200 to benefit from higher mfg multiplier. I find that if the original frame rate gets too low fg isn't saving it, it still feels a bit juddery and not smooth.

I just keep it on 2x when I'm using my LG tv which is 4k120. If I'm using my monitor higher can work but it's borderline at 175hz.

I prefer getting ~120 fps without it even if means lowering settings or more aggressive DLSS. But I have a 'mere' 144Hz display and I don't think it's enough for even 2xFG :p If i had one of those nice 240Hz 4K screens I'd use 2xFG for sure..

ok guys, im changing up the GPU, it goes back and I have on order a 5090!!

my only concern is the power it pulls, as I (have mentioned before) a official corsair 16 pin connector for my 1000W PSU, the only thing it connects via 2 8-pin connections on the PSU..

is that still safe for 600W or whatever it draws?

DLSS quality worked like a charm, forgot all about it. I just assume 5090, DLAA! Not with RTXDI I guess.
