NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

It looks like these prices (if rumors are true) won't stay for long, if supply starts to shrink

Hmmm. I wonder what will happen. Are we getting more gpus due to tariffs uncertainty and hence they are diverting shipments to UK and Europe as they can sell them and not have to worry about extra costs.

Yep, mine isn’t far off. Room heats up sooooo fast. I would say it might force me to go outside, but anything above 17c is already too warm for me, haha.
I have got the portable air conditioner on now 95% of the time, sometimes as early as 9:00am. Can't wait to save millions in heating costs during winter. Lol

The pricing drop off, each couple of weeks would suggest that, along with more supply than demand finally taking hold.

Seeing the non FE pricing in USA now, crazy we have competitive pricing and sometimes better than them pricing for certain AIB choices.

I have one, too. Loud as hell but a life saver. Got it 3 years ago and could not live without one now. Unfortunately I am not allowed to get proper AC installed where I live atm.

Hello!

An update on the saga…

My watch has ended :)

I’ve purchased an MSI 5090 gaming trio - and I’m keeping it (!).

Is it the quietest card I’ve hard for ‘whine’? Probably, yes it is. My dog-like ears can hear a high pitched whistle at times but… I’m never going to do better - this is card 5 and the best of the lot - so time to make peace and accept it for what it is… a Ferrari. And Ferraris make Ferrari sounds (sometimes).

If I don’t get on with it long term… oh well! But I’ve got to give it a go and moving on from ‘shall I keep it or not’ anxiety is the way to go, or I’d never give it a chance.

Is the cooling a lot worst than the Suprim? Definitely. But the fans are sooo much better than the Zotac. Honestly, the Zotac fans are absolutely crap in hindsight.

Am I about to embark on an epic, exciting project to waterblock my entire system with hard tubing? Oh yeah.

Wish me luck

Good luck! Glad the whine is 'better' than others and obviously fan noise and temps not relevant if water blocking.
How hard can a hard tube system be to do... :D

The real test for my FE will be when peak summer arrives. I don’t usually game when it’s 30+c anyway, but maybe it will make me wish i spent an extra £400 on an AIB card (highly doubt it!).
In no universe are any AIB cards worth the extra £ over an FE. Having said that if I was not able to get an FE card aesthetic would be a deciding role in me paying the extra £ as I am staring at the thing daily vs. the cooler temps and few extra fps.

Worth though? 100% in terms of value, but depends what your looking for. For example, I wanted a quiet system with less 'hassle' than doing a full watercooled system again and good warranty on such an expensive electrical item.
So I have 2 AIO's with low fan speed and good boosts and fps. So the 'extra' was worth it to me, but in no way good 'value for money'.
I think of it like buying an expensive watch/car/trainers etc to tell the time/wear, same function as a £10 timex, but how it makes you feel?
But the FE looks so good imo!

I think that's it with the FE though. Even with the latest drop it went in minutes. They seem harder to come by than previous FEs. I remember the 4090 lasting longer by quite a bit and that was a more positively thought of card.

Exactly, it’s a bargain if you can get one and Nvidia know exactly what they are doing. That said, I’ll always take a bigger cooling solution and a quieter card these days.

Yes agreed and I was very lucky to get one. I actually had a Suprim Liquid that I got the week prior, so I am not judging anyone that has pre-ordered or ordered an AIB. Objectively they are milking it price wise with the exception of Palit and some Zotac base models. If I had to go AIB I would've either kept my Suprim Liquid or have gotten a Palit and then found an excuse to move to a custom waterloop setup.

Just to chip in on the AIB vs FE: I paid £3k for mine in the end (Gigabyte Waterforce Xtreme 5090) and obviously I've been skimmed, it doesn't even need saying, but I was gaming today and my apartment prior to gaming was 27c indoors... 29c within an hour. My 5090 never got higher than 63c on the GPU and 78c on the memory, 480ish watts.

Personally, for me that makes the extra cost worth it. Today you can get the same card for £500 less quite easily, but I've had mine since early March so all in all, happy enough.

It's a different situation for everyone, right? Some look for value for money, some look for different things like myself. Personally I'm not too fussed about the extra £500 I paid vs the extra time I've had the card but of course, for someone else it could be a different weigh up.

Downside of the FE, no waterblocks. And even if one becomes available, I'm not sure how / if you can put back the original aircooler.
