Dune: Awakening

This might be a stupid question given that its Dune, but are there any other biomes? Its a genre of games I like but I think theres only so long that I can look at all that beige
Have to admit, this is the only thing I am worried about.

4 of my friends have it pre ordered though, so I will still be jumping in with them.

Arrakis is simply a desert biome - ofc there are the dunegons (research facilities) and indoor markets that break this up a little but other than that, sand and sun which ofc fits into the dune lore.

Have 400+ hours on record and hasn't been a problem although sometimes feel that occasional urge to see some greenery.

Hoping Caladan gets added in a future expansion.

It really is a great game.

Got this ordered with the early access - roll on Thursday!
Same here, I have the early access so am looking forward to seeing what the fuss is about, however thats all based on Arc Raiders not being shadowdropped on the 5th or 6th. If Arc Raiders does drop then my Dune will sit untouched for a while because I will be going ***** deep into Arc Raiders after how much I enjoyed the tech test of it. :)

It has kinda burnt me out I won't lie, but that's testament to just how good and enjoyable the game is that I have not stopped playing.

Just seen this btw - https://duneawakening.com/en/private-servers-announced
Interesting way of doing the private servers, so in essence your private server will be grouped with other peoples private servers for purposes of bigger populations in the endzones. That might work quite well for a better chance of avoiding the public server chaff :)

If you have head start then those 5 days will be enough to get out of hagga basin south and build your first real base in the vermillius gap. You will get the best opportunity to have a sizeable base in a location you want rather than come launch having to do with something that isnt where you want to build

Oh jeez - private servers. Now that's something I, nor my wallet expected :D
It's not what you think.

There's a area in the game world where you can build your base freely and create a local community and then theirs the main game world and that is still mmo and connected to thousands of people.

The hub area is the dedicated server

One plus though is that the part which is connected with others is only connected with others who are also on private servers, so you would never encounter people who arent on private servers themselves, which one would hope lessens the chances of encountering idiotic players, who are less likely to be playing on paid for private servers

Oh I'm well aware of what it is (I read it before I posted you see ;)), it just makes having my gaming buddies on the same server a lot easier.

Trying to temper excitement for this game - the main negative I'm reading is the combat being janky, the few videos I've seen of pvp have been very hit and miss. Time will tell............

The ariel combat takes getting used to as you need to figure out the aim for rockets. Pvp using swords/rifles etc I wouldnt say is janky.

What are your top 10 tips coming out of CBT? Preferably stuff that isn't on YT. Any interesting knowledge tidbits you can share? Anything would be super helpful. Thanks!

I don't know how much you've seen and to be honest I've played 400 hours of CBT but not watched many vids.

Some random tips:

#Try and build your 1st base between griffins reach tradepost and the wreck of the halcyon
#Make sure you check every corner of each NPC base as some intel/skill points are hidden
#Planetologist trainer Derek Chinara moves around at every stage of the quest chain so you will need to find where he is ;)
#Try and build your second base in western vermillius gap - you will be close to the anvil trade post and sheol for duralanium ore which you will need for your first ornithropter
#Hoard water as quickly as you can - processing of resources requires a lot of water!
#Try and do DD runs for MK6 resources out of hours if you are solo - less chance of being blown to bits.
#Always take a blood extractor and blood bags with you - you turn blood into water and can drink blood if you run out of water
#Always take Literjons out with you to collect dew at night so you can top up your tanks in the early stages of the game
#Don't underestimate how quick the worm is and how close it can breach to you
#When you move from hagga basin south into the vermillius gap, there are some paths through the dunes that are quicker and easier than others.

Other CBT players will have different views and tips

Just ordered a small private server for my gaming buddies and colleagues that are going to play. Let's see how it performs on launch day..... I'm sure it'll go swimmingly!
