Quest 3 accessories thread

might go and order that in a moment then. AMV ones is comfortable but for my needs i think open facial might be the right option.

I've got a Lenovo dock here, tempted to try it now...

I do also have a D6000 but as you've already tested it, what would be the fun in that..
and now not working on my quest 3 :/ when i tried today.

think i'l just have t bit the bullet and get a kensington mobile dock and try that.

So annapro gave me a face strap and asked me to review it on Reddit (no restrictions on what I can say etc).

Anything you guys think I should look at? It's basically my first halo strap and I'm not impressed! Though it's mostly because the headset is miles from my face, I suspect it's a design issue.

However... Due to the hinges I've tried it out as a elite strap and while it's tough to tighten it that much, it seems like it'll work alright! Comes with a magnetic 10k battery too.

Have you got a link to the strap. The halo straps I've tried all had rails where the headset side arms could be moved backwards and forwards to accommodate different head shapes.

Is it fully adjustable, see above.
Is it compatible with facial interfaces that have a thicker top part of the head cushion.
Is the back head cup still comfortable when it's pulled down quite low on the back of the head to oppose the forehead band.
Does it come with a centre head strap for extra comfort and stability.

material feel,
build qualit
easy of installation
balance - with / without battery
comfort over time
sweat / moisture
air flow when the game or activity is hot
those sort of thins i guess.
do you have a big face or slim face?
hair up or down i.e. pony tail
do you game with your partner or kids? what do are their openions / feel for it
any photos of what comes in the box?
glasses use
space ajustment from eyes

before post go ask annapro about the design issue so you can include a responce to it, OR they may ask you to test with another version i.e. v2

i tried the open face interface and i got on with it for a while but im back with the AMV interface.
for some reason i felt it was giving me eye strain recently. it was nice to have a few out side, seems ok for air flow.
i wear glasses and i felt it was interfearing/pressing on the frame and i didnt feel i could get a good distance between headset and glasses, so i prob need to re-try it when i have some custome lenses, some time this year.

the AMVR is comfortable, with nose light blocker does a good job of isolation, i have some light leakage on the sides but its minimal. it doesnt interfear with glasses and i dont feel like its pressing on the frame. no atuall complains with it.

likely i need a nw strap now, will think on that as ilike to watch things laying down

It's the A3 Max. There's small tabs that block the sides sliding closer, preventing them hitting the headphone and charging slots.

Found a YouTube video that had the same issues. Even the little video they sent me for fitting seemed to show the dummy head a long way from the headset.

Why don't headstrap manufacturers put an adjustment knob on both sides of the strap near the temples, instead of at the back of the headset so that more folks can use the headset/strap lying down.

They, or you need to get a junior hacksaw and take a centimetre or two off the front of that slide rail and remove the tab that's stopping the rearward movement of the side arms.

If I can get it going as an elite style, it might be alright. I'm not that fussed about halo.

I do wonder about the usefulness of counter weights if there's no central strap running along the middle to pull on. I guess it still makes the weight more even, but it doesn't help even it out. But then the Q3 is far better than the 2 anyway, thanks to it's thinner profile.

I do prefer halo straps, but the headset distance must be adjustable and a deeper interface is preferred. A central cushioned strap makes the whole thing more comfortable and stable

Case in point - The Quest Pro is a sort of semi-halo design, with a forehead pad but an elite battery strap back. This was incredibly uncomfortable to use for long periords until Globular Cluster produced their comfort kit which added larger front and rear pads and most importantly a top strap. Now it's the most comfortable headset I've tried and it just feels like putting a baseball cap on. That top strap is very important for distributing the headset weight.

I've taken the top strap off of my KKOBVR headset, all I used to use it for was taking the headset off..

I'm using you guys as a test bed for the review for the annapro. In case anyone missed it, I was given this for free by annapro, but they said I could write what I like.

So I've been playing around with the annapro a3 max a bit more. I'm not a halo strap user, so I'm not familiar with them that much. I've seen others use them, so have a fair idea of what the headstrap is supposed to do!

If you're a strict halo user, I don't think this is for you to be honest. Oddly enough, I reckon it's much better for an elite strap user!

It came in quite a small square box, with the rear pad already attached. Feels fairly regular in terms of materials, nothing special, but nothing bad either. There's a small clip accessible on the back pad, which is nice (more on that later). The battery clips on really easily, and comes off easily (when you want to, I don't think it'll fall off, the magnets are strong), I've seen an older video review saying it beeps really loudly when connected and disconnected, but mine doesn't beep at all, so perhaps it's been revised.

To attach, you slide over the headset arms with the arms of the strap. It's a tight fit with what appears to be some rubber like material, to ensure it doesn't slip. There's a small lip at the end of the headset arms to prevent the arms from sliding into/over the power and headphone sockets. This appears to actually be a major design issue...

When I couldn't get the halo aspect to fit as I was expecting, I contacting the Annapro rep who sent me through a video for instructions and told me the strap gear can be reinforced. I wasn't sure what they meant, but figured out that you can keep tightening beyond where it immediately feels like there's no further to go. This feels a little weird, but at the same time, it feels like it's a lot stiffer and less likely to slip whilst moving. At no point did the gears grind or loosen off unexpectedly etc.

Unfortunately, the video didn't really help, and funnily enough seemed to replicate the issue I was having. When using the strap across my forehead, with it as close to the headset as possible, the headset was sitting a very long way in front of my face. Photo below. You can practically see my whole nose, so it should be obvious it's miles away. If the connecting arms could be slid further along, then this would be a quick and easy way to bring the headset closer, there's probably a good 5mm space before reaching the power socket, so there was definitely some wriggle room with regards to the design!

Next with the strap a little more vertical, so higher on the forehead:

Still room for my finger, not touching my eyelashes or the lens.

Finally sitting really high on the forehead. I found I had to have my hair tied back for this to work, otherwise it slipped too easily. However, like this I felt it was an acceptable distance (I could insert my globular cluster interface, designed for elite straps and have it lightly on my face). I quite liked being without the interface. I could easily see myself using it like this to watch films, or potentially even work, having the pressure off my face and the airflow felt really nice compared to the elite style I'm used to. I would not play anything with any sort of serious movement though, or even minigolf where looking down is required! I could walk around without it being shaken out of place though.

Finally, given how adjustable it is, it actually works very well as an elite style strap.
IMG-20250604-172056.jpg

The top strap provides a little more vertical support like this, but isn't really playing a huge role, angling it more could easily make more room for those needing it. The fact it's also got the angle change for the rear pad is actually very nice for easily getting an even spread on that. As the tightening gear at the back is very stiff when doing it tight enough, there was no sign of it loosening when I shook my head (more than I would in most games, back and forth etc).

The only slight issue with this, compared with the elite strap I normally use is the lack of midline strap across the top, which really helps add the benefit from a counterweight, but with the slim build of the q3, it's not noticeable really. As I mentioned earlier though, there is a gap to loop a top strap in, so if you had a fabric one, you could easily slip it under the forehead/top strap, so a potential mod.

I have the original q2 carry case, there's no way I can find to pack this strap into that case. My son (who'll probably be taking this off me), has a cheap version from aliexpress, a box shaped thing, that I have found I can just about get it in, as it has a bit more depth to it.

I wouldn't have bought this headstrap, since I'm not into halo straps. I really couldn't recommend this headstrap as a halo strap either due to the distance it sat from the eyes when reasonably secured, but as an elite strap, it's good, especially as it's got a large sized battery that goes on and off easily and securely. That it can then moonlight as a halo strap for more sedentary uses, makes it very useful, and quite possibly my new daily driver (until my son takes it for himself).

TLDR: Do not buy this as a battery halo strap, but as a battery elite strap it works well, and can then moonlight as an OK halo for low movement usage which is quite a bonus.

Can you hack the back clip off to allow the arms to slide further rearwards and cut the semicircular front ends off the guides to give you more adjustability.

Perhaps, but I think I'll probably just stick with using it as an elite strap, even more likely is my boy takes it over, since it's easier for him to use the battery than the velcro strap technique I use on my other strap.

My top strap is largely redundant too or it feels that way, the top strap is rarely snug with the top of my head. Liking the headstrap overall though especially given it's about half the price of the equivalent Bobo one. If I had to moan about 1 thing I'd say I can't get it so it feels very secure, I think playing games with a lot of movement it might fall off but maybe I am not doing something correctly.
