Relocation to Spain Experience

Just made a complaint to the UK passport office, been waiting for my passport for months. They are so disorganised it incredible. No matter how many emails you send they just send out a template response. Is this just another dysfunctional civil department?

Have you done something wrong, or is it your first? Most people seem to get theirs in a week or so...

They didn't like my passport photo I sent it 3 times. Then they accidentally closed my account. I applied again and. It stick on photo verification.

They have obviously read his complaints about the UK and how terrible it is compared to the whole EU. Making him sweat a little until he can get an EU visa (whatever one is)

Normally you don't wear spectacles, your eyes are open and your mouth is closed, no smiling and look straight at the camera.. could not be simpler.

Always had glasses on in my passport photo. Never had a problem despite the general advice.

The fact you never had a problem before didn't mean your photo was compliant with the rules; just that you got lucky.

One of my old passport photos has my chest of drawers clearly in the background but it still wasn't flagged and I used it for 10 years. ;)

When I need a new passport pic, I go to a local photographer who makes sure the photo is acceptable. Doesn't cost much more than those photo booths and less messing around.

It's a recommendation not a rule. No glare and visible eyes seems fine.

He's obviously trying some shenanigans to try and remain unrecognizable on the photos but still meet the criteria.

I've never heard of anyone failing their passport photos, it simply doesn't happen.

their initial photo verification does show up the inadequacies of AI (or their implementation) not being able to spot shadows which mine was later rejected for,
maybe that is part of the dumming down to allow diversity testing to show equal fail rate for all races.
(guess the latest digital gates using face recognition as a multi-factor - so you risk being pulled over if you obfuscate image)

e: somewhat forgot this was spain thread and not passport one .. are the spanish less surveillanced than in uk

It is what I did, I guess their new system. Isn't working so well. This is the only step left before I send all my documents to the embassy.

This is, this is the progress towards the end goal.

In the past there were never any problems, it. seems every government department does not function well these days.

So... You built the house yet?

Not building a house, too much paperwork, buying a large flat that way I bypass all the problems when buying individually build properties. Also seeking to buy a place in a urbanisation in the southern coastal areas, again bypassing most of the issues.

So far it looks like Madrid over Barcelona, as taxes in Barcelona seem to be much higher. Train journeys seem to be shorter from Madrid when travelling to other parts of Spain.

The latest booths also check that your photo meets the requirements and the photos are then uploaded and you get a code to type into the passport form so that it is automatically attached.
