Thunderstorms 2025

Went down to Dungeness tonight to do some photography, started off slow and subtle, but by the time it was dark it was mayhem, I wanted a nice shot of the shingle with the cool-blue sea, with some added lightening, got a couple of half decent ones - by the time the lightening was really kicking off, it was absolutely hammering it down, pitch black and impossible to be out - but amazing to watch.

not seen lightening like that in the UK before, next closest was Arizona in monsoon season.

We get chain lightning here regularly during the summer, just a little reminder from Mother Nature that she can end us any time she likes.

Was supposed to have a major storm last night according to all the weather services, but only got a little light rain. Weird intersection of valleys and hills locally mean that we often don’t get the forecasted weather, but if a storm does get stuck in a valley, we get the full force of it.
 
Hiking in the Peaks tomorrow, its gunna be wet under foot I reckon... definitely wasnt gunna head out there today :D
