The Naked Gun (2025)

I doubt it’ll be any good, though as others have said the last joke made me laugh, but I’ll watch it on streaming.

I remember signing an online petition to bring Police Squad to DVD. That was a while ago... It's still in my cupboard as they did eventually do it of course. Was basically the funniest thing I'd ever watched at the time!

A lot of the jokes in the trailer follow the spirit of the originals, so there is hope. I also like most things Seth MacFarlane puts his name to. I'm just not sure about Neeson for this role but let's see. The bar set by Leslie Nielsen is probably not going to be surpassed or even approached very easily...

There was a comment on 4th wall breaking - I haven't watched it in a while but if you look at something like Airplane! there's plenty of nods to the viewer so I don't think it's outside the established style.

Agree with others though - stop trying to re-animate franchises or continue to flog the long-dead ones - no reason why this style of movie and humour couldn't have been accomplished as a unique IP with some more original context. I guess that movie never would have got commissioned by any studio though!

Now to dig out that DVD again...

Normally a massive fan of Naked Gun, Airplane etc, but this looks pants

I must have watched a different trailer

I like liam Neeson but his deadpan is too, animated. Leslies deadpan was, dead. The best in the business. Saying that, from the trailer it looks like it has potential, but not on par with NG, Airplane and Top Secret. IMO, Top Secret was the best of them all.
