Your bad driving encounters

I long ago wait for people to commit on roundabouts though it sometimes annoys people behind me - far too many times had people do something contrary to their indication or lane.

So many rude and ignorant drivers on the road today, including a Waitrose van driver coming the other way which I saw speed up after someone had committed to overtaking them which meant I had to slow down to make sure it was safe.

EDIT: I think what really wound me up though was the number of people just dumbly following the car ahead leaving all the decisions making to them so to speak - so they'd pull out in front of people, drive into and then be stopped in yellow boxes and block traffic from clearing, etc. for no good reason.

Multiple times saw it where the car in front moved so they moved without a thought nearly causing accidents.

Dunno what it is with the last 2-3 days - seems like the ignorant, rude and selfish drivers are out in force.
Have you only just started driving since COVID? That's when I think the big decline happened, although there's a lot of people that seemingly don't care as long as they get there way.

Do remember guys that this thread is the direct result of people believing that they can apply the rules as they see fit to driving.
Those of you defending breaking the speed limit whenever you want, is the catalyst for this.

There is a strong distinction in my opinion between when people doing that are being reasonable and considerate to others or not. Someone pulling out of a junction forcing other people to slam on their brakes to accommodate them or jumping a red light making a dangerous situation is very different to someone doing a little over the speed limit or stretching the definition of when they can use cross hatched areas to overtake when it is clearly safe, etc.

Nope, that’s not how it works.
The people happily breaking the speed limit is because they believe it’s ok. It’s their interpretation of the law.

And unless we follow the rules, they who are we to complain about how they interpret the rules?

Sorry, this works both ways.
If we allow anyone to “interpret” the laws however they want, then it’s open season for everyone. They probably think that’s it’s fine to block keep clear locations, park in disabled bays and drive the wrong way in a car park.

There is always going to be a subjective side to it but there are breaking or bending the laws in ways which have little to no impact on anyone else and ways in which have a big impact on everyone else - just because some people might speed a little doesn't justify inconsiderate driving and personally think it perfectly reasonable to expect people to drive considerately without expecting them to apply the rules as per textbook.

The extra speed is fine until it isn't. Speed and inconsiderate driving often go together as well.
