**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

no harm. they're not linglong ditchfinders

Yea exactly, I've used tyres on the drive for about the last 4 times, but last time they lost one of my spigot rings, and put the wheel back on without it. I rotate my wheels myself so it was only a day later or so I found it luckily.

It really ****** me off because it's not ideal having the wheel hanging off the studs, plus it was not that easy to get a replacement spigot ring for my wheels. On top of all that it's really not that easy to get the wheel back on without the spigot ring, so you think something would have clicked...... One job eh?

They are basically Halfords these days anyway.

Managed to find a local tyre fitter I've heard good things plus they had a website that actually worked. All booked in for Tuesday.

Bridgestone Turanza 6 any good?

Been using Pilot Sport 4's for ages, no complaints either, but apparently don't have them stocked at the moment, plus they are bloody expensive.

Kinda fancy a change anyway.

Can't speak about the 6 from experience, but I've used the Turanza t005 extensively which are an older variant of the tyre.

+Assured feeling in the wet with good control and excellent wet braking performance.
+Low rolling resistance = good economy.
+Handle cold temperatures well - no significant change in performance until you pretty much get to 0-1C.

-Quiet but they make a low frequency droning kind of noise which can get annoying on long journeys (supposedly one of the things they improved on the 6).
-Definitely not a snow tyre, average on ice.
-In very warm dry weather they can feel a bit vague and lumpy (we only get like 2 days a year that qualify anyhow) - not sure if this is the same on the 6 or not.
-I had crazy cracking between the tread blocks start appearing premature on more than one set (supposedly one of the things they improved on the 6) - though I am/have put them through a lot of miles on fairly heavy, high centre of mavity vehicles which have plenty of torque on tap, on not the best roads.

(I currently have the Bridgestone AS6 on my Qashqai but I've mixed feelings about those, but they probably don't share much with the 6).

Yeah, your pic didn't upload...
Will try again :o

No way of knowing how this happened but we think something sliced open the inside of the tyre enough that eventually it just gave way.

Anyone got experience with the P-Zero 5. I'm going to need to replace the SC7's on my TTRS soon, and these have been getting some very good reviews, even for grip in the wet, which used to transform P-Zero's into laser guided ditch finders.

Need new tyres for the Golf GTI, what's the best entry level all season sport tyres these days? Are Michelin Pilot sports still the go to?
