HDR is underrated

Nah, not worth it, features like that should be ready for all users, without need of messing around with anything.
Like raytracing, kinda gimmicky feature, which could be nice if done right and have proper hardware power to handle it.

I'd be rich if I had a quid for all the people who said Ray tracing was gimmicky until they had a card capable of using it properly.
It is done right and we do have the hardware to handle it, it's increasingly common :)

yeah, too expensive, I meant affordable hardware.

Speaking of HDR, and how broken it can be ... the latest Windows 11 update has broken HDR for some LG OLED users ( and other manufacturers ) by introducing a bug that enables Dolby Vision even when it's switched to "off". On my LG C3, if Dolby is set to "on" HGIG doesn't work ... so it breaks my HDR settings. Had fun trying to work out what had happened. Thought my display had developed a fault, or the latest NVIDIA drivers had done something. But no, it was a good old Microsoft failure.

Didn't know about that bug, probably cause I did not turn that on.

I didn't turn Dolby Vision on either ... the update switches it on even if the toggle says otherwise. I only found out when I switched Windows to HDR ( Win key + Alt + B shortcut ) then all hell broke loose ....

Ooft, I just realised I still have windows 10, so all good :)

Yep had that same bug, made my screen go 8bit colours. Knew it was windows update as it was the last thing I did before I turned PC off.
It wasn't until a bit of digging though. I knew exactly what the issue was as Xaldub explained.
