I don't like the remote that came with my LG TV so I was searching around and found there was an iOS app you can use as a remote control and it seems to work well. The thing is there is a "Pro" plan which is a one off £50 or monthly at £6.99 and I'm wondering if it is worth it? Seems expensive for a remote control app. Does anyone else use the app?
The main button is a scroll wheel thing and a button combined so when I try to click the button I end up accidentally scrolling the wheel instead of clicking.
Can't say I have that issue. Do you not have the LG ThinQ app? I tend to use that on my phone to power on/off the TV and can use it find for controls. I only use it when I lose the remote or can't be bothered getting up It's free

Personally the idea of remote control for a device on a phone (apart from a streamer where it's needed) is just poor.
Perhaps look for a universal programmable remote, so it can control multiple devices and because it's the same physical layout (for every device) you can operate without looking at it
I use URC remotes. I think mine is controlling about 13-15 devices, and for three rooms
Unfortunately decent programmable remotes are being phased out for phone control - or remotes that are bluetooth so they only function with that device.

Yeah. I don't like the LG wand remote, especially when the magic wand bit overides what you want to do.
Just that programmable allows you customisation, with all on, all off, specific input change on TV, AV pre, then it opens up a specific screen for that activity . Volume controls av pre, navigation controls change whether it's TV, BD, av pre, video streamer, audio streamer, etc etc
Too late now, but iirc LG also sell a non magic remote that is fully compatible. Alternatively any LG standard remote from last few years would have probably worked as well! I had one of these magic ones on a LG OLED a few years ago, and like you I sometimes struggled with the middle button.
I just nicked an old LG remote from an old TV at my workplace when I was finally fed up of the magic remote! Don't have the TV or remote anymore though.

There are dozens of generic LG remotes on Amazon etc, they're virtually identical to the official ones just without the LG logo and sometimes have different names/labels on the shortcut buttons for apps. Just pick one you like the look of.
