Christian Horner sacked!

Yeah, did an independent legal team not brush it under the carpet and acquit him of any wrongdoing? How do you go from that to this?

Must be more at play..

There were questions over just how independent the original investigation was. But she appealed to court and lost so there’s no doubt that was independent. This was last summer though so it’s not likely to be directly related to that. Though potentially a factor in the decision along with the poor performance (especially in the second seat), losing staff etc.

I do wonder how much Verstappen has had to do with it though. Either in he has signed with Merc as the rumours suggest and Horner has been sacked as losing the star driver was the nail in the coffin. Or, again based on rumours, a condition of Verstappen staying is Horner going.

It’s a shame either way, personally I think he’s one of the most unlikeable, hypocritical, conniving and whingiest TP’s on the grid but there’s no denying he has had amazing success at RBR.

The timing of this seems really weird, and I can't yet see a reason for the sacking. Sure, they aren't fighting for the WCC, but they had spells of that before when Merc dominance started.

Bye Bye :D

He's one of the figures in F1 I like least, and I really detested the way they attempted to brush him being a sex pest under the carpet, but: there's no doubt he was exceptionally good at his job. He turned round a failing team and turned it into a true juggernaut of the sport. Delivering not one, but two, periods of total dominance. His absence will leave a massive hole for Red Bull to fill.
Worse than flavio?

Horner to Alpine, perfect match
Could easily see this.

Horner has done a great job overall. But for what ever reason RBR have decided to ditch him mid season.

Its either verstappen leaving, the performance of the second car (doubtful mid season?) or the scandal stuff has developed.

If verstappen does leave (and can't see any other reason for Russell not to be signed) what poor souls will send up in RBR at the back of the grid?

I'm guessing Russell? It's a shame Russell is going if he does. He very much deserves to stay. But I also salivate at having a benchmark to compare verstappen to in a different car. For verstappen it would be great to prove to viewers how good he is excluding the RBR car developed for him thelries.. And it can only be done in a different car.

Wow, that came out of nowhere. Max will be off then, especially given how rubbish the RB is now. I don’t like Horner, but he’s done a great job. Gives him more time to cheat on his wife now.

Agreed, whatever opinion some might have, and some very much incorrect, he still precided over an era of red bull's greatest success.
Unless he has signed for another team a grave error of judgement has taken place and f1 will be in a worse place. I don't doubt all the haters will come out with their fake statements.

As did Adrian Newey and I know where I put my money on who was more influencial to winning all those championships.

I think people forget just how much Horner messed up with driver lineups from pretty much the get go, fiasco with Renault engines in the turbo era plus all his seedy back story.

The one thing RB got right was investing in the youth and with the junior team that brought us Max and Seb but I don't think Horner had anything to do with that.

How weird. You'd think given the teams well founded success under his command there would have been a bit more love, pomp and circumstance vs "He's sacked, thanks for working hard". It tells me there's more of a HR position than a "It's not you, it's me" position.

I doubt we will find out officially, so publicly he's not any dirtier and it gives him the opportunity to work elsewhere. A compromise agreement of sorts.
