Women's Euros 2025 - July 2nd to 27th

England last night showed they are a decent team, against France so many players were 'off it' and against the top teams (men or women) you cannot have more than 1 player not performing as you'll get battered, make no mistake Holland are half decent and were played off the park.

Still see Spain as favourites but England should be up there in the semi's

Dutch keeper made it very easy for us….should have kept most of those out.
Have you seen the standard of women keepers? Most of the football is quite good albeit a lot slower than the men's game but the goalkeepers are like watching a 4 year old running around the garden trying to catch a tennis ball

Unfortunately the goalkeepers is something that I can't see getting fixed. Women simply aren't designed to be athletic at the sort of heights that you need for a top keeper. The best mens keepers are all 6' plus. The very best are often 6'3" or more. Potentially with big ape indexes as well.

I still full believe that womens football should operate on slightly smaller pitches and with smaller goals but thats not a popular opinion and would make things harder in many way for the womens game.

Yes, it's a shame as the standard of outfield play is pretty good these days. Goalkeepers are glaringly poor though....surely not an unsolvable problem though.

The funny thing is, plenty of women have the same opinion. It certainly polarises people though. I can understand that women don't want to be seen as "less than" when it comes to football but fundamentally they are not the same so why are they playing under exactly the same constraints. Goalkeeping is one of the glaringly obvious areas where you can see the huge gulf between mens and womens football. The gulf is there all over the pitch but you would only really be able to see that clearly if you put them against men (or teenage boys...).

It would make the game better to at least make the goals smaller but that would mean every level of womens football the world over would have to change which isn't likely to happen.

The goalkeeping has always been comical. It’s a special awareness thing imo rather than a physical weakness. Judging multiple gaps, distances and trajectories. It’s why they get an undeserved rep for being bad drivers. My wife is an excellent driver but she’s got no clue where the corners of the car are.

Well, that was about as clear a red card as you'll ever see. And the Swedish shooter was offside too.
