Superman: Legacy

I'm really on the fence about going to see this, could you explain what issues you had with it please?

The bloody dog is putting me off more than anything else, I'm really not a fan of it.
Krypto is fine. Just a badly behaved dog. Not a huge part of it.

Give it a shot. You may enjoy it.

Just got back, was enjoyable enough and the acting performances were really good.

There was just lots going on

Pacing and style felt somewhere between guardians of the galaxy 2 and 3.

Even the scenes mirrored them, like fighting the kaiju deffo paralleled GoG2 where they fight the space creature at the beginning.

just back, over all i liked it, say 6.5-7/10. it no classic but good enough with some interesting chars in it, and some nice nods to comics/people. story was abit silly, even for a superman movie, but will look forward to future films

Who gives a movie 7.5/10 and then pays to watch it again?
Its still a decent score and good enough to watch it again. Plus I have a cineworld unlimited card so not costing me anything as I go almost every week to see something so get my moneis worth from my £12.99 a month. Well 4DX costs £4 extra but I dont do that very often.

No offense bud, but you're clearly a super fan and I doubt we fully align in taste (I really appreciate the response and I promise you I'm not being an ass in saying that). If anything @Kyo has pushed me toward giving it a shot as I often agree with his views.

I began reading the review linked by @smokedog but stopped when I realised it was essentially explaining the entire plot.

The dog winds me up though, admittedly I'm much more of a cat person but I've never got on with most smaller or weird looking dogs and I don't fancy spending money to watch a movie about one.

7.5/10. Maybe 8 at a push, just cos it's superman. It's IMAX and opening night so people were clapping at the end, but I couldn't quite bring myself to.

If you don't like the dog, you won't enjoy it. I was a bit surprised how much he is used in the story tbh.

Bits of humour fell flat, but not too much humour on the whole.

Too many characters so some actors barely got a couple of lines/scenes.

Both the Clark and Lois characters really great, which is good for sequels.

The 2 after credits scene, absolute waste of time.

7/10 from me, 8/10 from my son. Enjoyable, very different from what we saw of the DCEU. My only real criticisms were Lex's motive and mom Kent was a bit too country which gave a weird vibe. Lois was slightly underdeveloped.

Thanks for the info mate.

I think I'll wait until it hits streaming services, I will watch it just not at the cinema.

I enjoyed the Dog.

Superman's motivation aligned to Krypto despite him being, as per the trailers chaotic and misbehaved, is pretty relatable.

Agree on the humour but it seemed more light hearted than trying to be all out funny..

That motivation and anger after Krypto is taken is what drives the whole 3rd act and most of the 2nd in reality.

Superman doesn't care about his home being destroyed by Lex but the fact he took his dog is what motivates him to turn himself in and be captured so he can find Krypto.

Bit John Wick but hey, its fair.

I think this is key; kids and normal cinema goers will mostly love it. Families coming out of my showing were pretty buzzing.

Hard fans expecting the comic fantasy style (MCU equivalent) will be way too on the fence and polarised just because DC can never make a fan favourite movie in this genre (only gritty ones like Nolan's trilogy or The Batman).

I would say Superman is better than the 1st mcu Thor for example, but that got notably better with age, as the MCU Infinity War era banked a significantly higher level of audience investment, and phases 1-3 are viewed through that legacy lense.

Marvel fans beyond spiderman, had never had decent films pre MCU. DC fans have had decades of Superman and Batman already including Burton, Reeves and Nolan.

MCU is pretty dead, so this DCU is definitely in the style that a whole new generation will invest.

For a start it's all over the place and the fight scenes are a joke and the engineer is lame. Sups gets kicked in the nuts and he grabs his crotch, really, Gunn?.. I was cringing for most of it. The CGI dog was super annoying and I have 3 border collie's so not a dog hater. Train the ******* thing. This is a superman movie in name only, it should have been focused on him vs Lex who is just so man child evil in I was rolling my eyes most of the time he is on screen. Sups comes across as weak and disrespected by even the JL, Gunn done him dirty. The Kents come across as really dumb rednecks, again cringing with how thick they lay the accents on. Gunn's joke are just not funny, the jimmy as a babe magnet as plot device is another roll eyes moment

Just like with the Snyder era they are rushing to get as much DC crap in as they can for spinoff TV and movies, it will fail. Nothing gets to to breath in this, action scenes are too short and shot poorly and frankly, boring. The soundtrack sucks for most scenes. To recover this Gunn needs to quit the directing, get Nolan to do one.

Granted kids may love this, but as an 40+ adult, this is not for me.

I didn't even make it to the end, awful film. I'm not a huge superhero or Superman fan, and I'm sick of all the over the top CGI multiverse stuff now with crazy stories; there was stuff going on absolutely everywhere and none of it interested me. I've never walked out of a film before (although there wasn't much left when I left) but I was bored senseless especially with all the stuff that was made up from seemingly nowhere. Went and had a Long Island Iced Tea at the bar instead.

Sorry, a BAR in a cinema? Where was this? That's a hell of a fallback if the movie is ****!
I didn't even know this was a thing!?
