bad look for wimbledon, both singles champions being ex dopers that basically got a joke of a ban after testing positive. Sinners defence seems like the same BS armstrong pulled. He gave samples on 10th and 18th March and both tested positive for Clobestol. If it got into his system due to his physio using it on his hands before giving him a massage and was only a trace level after him using it on a cut on his hand before giving him the treatment on one occasion, why is it still showing up 8 days later in a fresh sample at a level that would mean WADA hand him out a ban ?

Smells a bit corrupt.......................

How's it a bad look for Wimbledon? They can hardly tell Sinner or Swiatek not to play when WADA said that the cases were resolved. Bad look for WADA and the sport, absolutely, but I can't see how blame can be laid at Wimbledon's door for this.

Raducanu comfortably beat Osaka last night. Was a boring match, didn't even have two commentators on it. Sky coverage is so much worse than Prime was it's laughable.

Faces Sakkari in the QF.

Just seen Emma pushed sab really close.

Didn’t see any of it but hopefully (for the hundredth time) that’s her actually going to get back to her best. Perfect timing for the US.

If it’s just a flash in the pan I’m out this time for good.

She played really well but I wouldn't say Sabs was at her best but Emma still played much better
The new coach was basically talking to her every point. Rafas old coach so he probably knows the odd thing.

Sabalenka wasn't at her best, but Emma was on point for most of the match. 82% 1st serve percentage in one of the sets, which is pretty unreal. Unfortunately over the course of the match she had quite a few double faults.

Her performances have been getting better and better this year. It bodes well.

How long she'll keep the new Spanish coach (in additional to her regular guy) is another matter. I'm not sure she was onboard with he point by point coaching all of the time. "Hit with more spin, Do a kick serve", Emma then proceeds to do a slice serve and loses the point. "It's ok we're still in this, we need the next two points" Emma gets aced on the next two points. lol.

I don't disagree but that's not how wild cards work. It's a mix of bringing in the crowds and money and promoting young/upcoming talent. Venus as old as she is, is still capable of beating a random no-name qualifier, will fill a stadium.

I bet if Federer came of retirement and asked for a WC for wimbledon they'd give it.

Being a peasant, I can't watch the US open but checking the scores I see Amanda Anisimova has made the final and got her revenge on Swiatek in the quarters. Seems like she really has put Wimbledon behind her. :p

Yeh that could have killed her. Looks like it could be the making of her now!

Novak smashed again. Said it before, should have walked away after winning gold but now just tarnishing his reputation. Father time can’t be beat.

Thing is the standard of the men’s game outside of Alcatraz and Sinner is pretty bang average that even the shadow of Djokovic is good enough to beat everyone else so can understand him carrying on. Just needs a couple of upsets or injuries and there’s another slam out there for him.

He’s always done well in Melbourne (cept when they kicked him out of the country ) so maybe go all in for one last hurrah there.

And now the #1.

Glad for him, he maybe my new favourite player. The way he plays the game and seems classy both on and off the court. Has good banter with former players with the golf as well. Up there with Becker and Edberg now. Johnny Mac and Wilander up next. Only needs AO for the set already.

Plus Sinner with his PEDs just has been feeling a bit meh towards him.

These two have now won the last 8 slams now. Alcaraz seems to have the edge in the head to head too - which is why Wimbledon was a bit of a shock with him being back to back champ going for a bit of history of his own in that final too.

3 slam finals in a row now, I fully expect them to both win the next four and very likely compete in each four as well. We have a new rivalry which will be help with as said a few above the lack of quality in the field is pathetic. Even Medv, Tsips are getting knocked out R1 these days. Novak is 3rd in the race playing slams and his own tournament.

ATPF still held in Turin right? That should have Sinner the home crowd edge.
