*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

Given the new DK is from the Mario Odyssey team I think it's a safe bet this will be a decent game and have a substantial campaign.

I'll likely pick it up but not for a while, I'm still a long way from finishing Tears of the Kingdom.

The only games I've preordered in the last few years were Tears and Astro Bot. Both of which I knew were going to be bangers. And I wanted physical releases so preordering meant I got them on launch day.

I’ve not pre-ordered DK I’ll just grab it when I am ready. Like above I am still invested in ToTK and I am far from done. Honestly I think it’s one of the best games I’ve ever played so I am in no hurry to finish it even after 85 hours.

Can’t believe people still Pre-Order in 2025 so much crap released these days.

I would normally agree with this 99% of the time except for first party Nintendo stuff which rarely is ever bad. Except probably the Pokémon games.

We aren't talking Ubislop/Bethesda etc

Tbh if I had paid full price for the new Mario Kart I think I would have felt ripped off. Its not bad but its not a patch on 8 and we were bored with it after a few hours and back on 8.

I haven't touched 8 since I got the Switch 2. Might have to play it again to see how it compares. Curious how it runs on the Switch 2.

I just like the pick a track and go stuff. The real world aesthetic I really dislike in these games, same reason I hated New Donk city in odyssey.

I can't see myself going back to MK8, I just find MKW feels better to play, and has more polish and depth (and that's ignoring the free roam).

I do think online Race mode needs improved though. The first half of the 'travel to' courses aren't very engaging as it often doesn't feel like the race really starts until the last lap or so, and then it's over quickly. At least offline and in private lobbies you can just choose any course for regular 3 lap courses instead of travel courses (by pressing + on the map).

I think Knockout Tour online is great though and just the kind of thing the series needed.

I can’t go back to 8 either. I’ve put 10 hours into MKW just having a blast with a beer in a Friday. I’ve done a few cups but it’s all about the online for me which is fun when I want to take my brain out after the demands of work.

Never thought of using the Switch 2 dock for the Steam Deck. I have my Switch 2 setup externally with a USB C extension cable anyway so the cable is already there. Will give this a go later.

They have no excuse not to eventually add VRR on external displays now that this proves it should work. Embarrassing for Nintendo, though; handheld competitors do VRR through your own dock, while the Switch 2 can't at the moment.

I installed it again on my Switch 2. Was a rather large patch but I want to see if it runs better on the Switch 2 but having said that I find MKW really fun and I'm only going back to 8 to test it out on the new hardware.

Did you try it? Any improvement if you did?
I did. Can't say I noticed much of a difference but it seemed a bit easier to me but that might just be my imagination. All in all I'll probably keep it instealled just as something to do if I fancy a change. Plus having 200cc is much better.

I think it was mentioned recently they were hiring a HDMI/Display Technologies expert. Given they originally advertised this functionality, but then pulled it shortly before release, I think they do want to enable it, but ran into issues with some configurations and thus pulled it until they can perform additional validation.
Nintendo often like to fairly thoroughly polish and kid proof things like this, so I suspect once they've done additional testing, it'll come back at some point. (Sooner the better really)

Hi guys, I was looking to get Breath of the Wild and wondered if anyone knew whether there is any reason to buy the switch 2 version over the switch 1 version then pay for the upgrade? Just doesnt seem to make sense as the switch 2 version is more expensive for what seems like the same thing. Cheers

If you get the Switch 1 version and sign up for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass you get the Switch 2 upgrade for free. You can get NSO for £28 on CD Keys for a year.

I don’t think I would get the use out of online as I play mostly single player games. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything if I was to get the switch 1 version then pay for the upgrade.

Fair enough. Having said that you also get access to lots of other things with NSO. Particularly the upgrade to ToTK so it might end up saving you money. You also get access to the NES, SNES, N64 and Gamecube games.
