Is this just another money making scam like fining people for leaving scrap out to be collected or fining others for peeing discretely in a lay-by. It certainly seems to be .A £100 fine for each ****, **** and **** or even maybe ******.

Can we really have a life without these ******* irritating *****.

;)

The authority has renewed its efforts for a PSPO to be introduced in areas including Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate, highlighting issues with swearing, drug use and alcohol.
maybe they should concentrate on the issues with drug and alcohol use rather than swear words. ******* morons.

One of the most refreshing things about moving to the Netherlands is that they don't censor anything on TV or Radio.
I was quite suprised at the amount of swearing in pop music actually.
When watching Formula 1 (when the drivers were allowed to swear on the radio), the commentators would translate it into Dutch complete with the swear word :D

As soon as I read the story thought "John Spartan you have been fined 50 credits", makes sense why deal with real crime when you can boost your stats with easy fines.

Has anyone seen the video of 3 youths in broad daylight smashing a pawn brokers window in Derby City Centre with hammers, this kind of thing would be easy to get away with if the 'Swear Police' were already dealing with bad language perps!!

Is it actually enforceable though. Does it break any laws? So if you appealed it all the way, can it be enforced?

What about swearing in foreign languages?

Seems like overreach to me. People should be polite in public but I wouldn't want to fine people for swearing, they should be free to do so.

I've thought for a while we should just "legalise" swear words. Surely most people don't care. Think of the kids? Kids only care because it's a naughty word, stop making the word naughty and there's no problem. It's just a word. I'd prefer the Austrialian approach where we just call everyone the C word whether they like you or not. Obviously things like the N word is a different category and a bit more delicate.

I find it bizzare this forum bans swearing when the average age is probably about 40.

And like RevBillyG I want to be able to listen to the radio and hear full uncensored songs (I know I could use Spotify). The BBC for example could have an alternative stream where the bleeped song goes out for people who get angry at a sound.

I actually rarely swear in public, I swear a lot in my head whilst working however.

Cool, im going to position the swear jar directly outside the council building.

Maybe they can put £10 in everytime they spurt out a load of ****

Technically it can fall under public order but then that's criminal rather than civil.

Seems like it would be hard to make it stick unless there is a council womble going around recording everyone's conversations to use as evidence. Which isn't allowed unless they are part of the conversation or have a warrant.

"You swore"
"No I didn't"
Case dismissed

It's not suprising councils are going broke when they are spending money on dumb schemes like this.

You'd only catch really stupid people that way.

Hmmm, possibly a good money making scheme then......
