Clarkson's Farm

With the greatest of respect to both of you, the decision has been made and it’s now a conservation area, so no matter anyone thinks about the who’s, where’s or why’s, it’s over and done with.
However the solar farm that @labbby mentioned is still ongoing and there’s plenty online about that and the process.

We have issues here with the locals, they keep complaining to the Council (even trying to start up protest groups) every time we put some new fence around our own land if they feel it impinges them. One basis of a complaint was that a piece of land was where they walked their dogs....one guy even moaning that he had been training his dog on it for 6 months and now what was he going to do

The latest has been negative posts on SM/Google etc saying how we've "purposefully obstructed a footpath, for no reason" I mean for a start we have livestock, so if you can't think of a reason why we might fence off some grassland, then you're not the brightest bulb in the box.

Great cop out that, all we asked for was his reasons. We've heard your rant so need to see if it was worth it. With all due respect and all that.

How’s it a cop out?
He was doing it for the money, why on earth do you think he was doing it Sherlock. There is actually more to it than that but I’m not discussing other families decisions on here.
Also what do you mean “need to see if it was worth it” lol.
What’s it got to do with you
I swear this hot weather is driving people completely radio rental.
No rant from me anywhere on this subject btw, I couldn’t be happier with the outcome, haven’t I made that blindingly obvious?

You brought the subject up and don't want to finish the job.

Ok, so let’s assume you’ve somehow made a decision (in your words) “if it was worth it”, which I guess you have?
Now what exactly are you going to with the decision you’ve come to?
What purpose has been served here?
As said, the area is now a conservation area, which I’d guess any right minded person would think is a good thing over covering it with concrete, glass panels, miles of wiring, fences, substations and god knows what else on to grade 1 farmland and preserves our glorious countryside for all to enjoy.
I’m the bad guy here?

I can only think you are an entitled NIMBY, as we have only had your very biased opinion. I doubt the farmer just put down on the proposal that he just wanted to make money and ruin the ground.

And exactly what do you think his motivation was for selling land to build houses on?
C’mon you’ll get there at some point, it just may take a while.
I however believe in you to figure it out.
Go go go champ.

 rather than just trying to win internet points against @JonRGV250 let's think logically about what other major reason a business makes a decision for?

It's very rarely because it's not the best way to profit from what they've got

@tonys If you honestly think that this field would be better off being utterly destroyed with concrete, wiring, substations and solar panels and ultimately never being returned to it's former farming glory, then fair enough.
There's no point in me trying to convince you otherwise, nor will I waste my time trying to.

I would rather the land was farmed but you still haven't said what reasons he gave. Was it for his own farm, the local grid or just selling off the land to someone else to do the building? Do you know the exact state of the farms finances, has it lost subsidies that mean that field is now non profitable?

I've said twice if you care to read my posts that I'm not getting into another families reasons/politics or whatever, it's not my business to air someone else's laundry in public.
That's just being respectful of others.
If that doesn't sate your appetite to know more, then I'm sorry I really can't help you.

I've read your posts about it, giving the reasons the farmer put in on the application isn't a problem for the family is it as it's on public record. Like I said you started this off but now fail to finish.

At least my satire wasn't wasted, so I'll take that as a win.
It's like shooting fish in a barrel, but using a RPG.
