Tabletop Warhammer?

Good start. I started trying a salamander scheme yesterday with a green ink but I sprayed it on too thick and completely killed pre shade. I'm going to try and recover it by spraying a darker contrast in the shadows and see how that looks
I do dig the Salmanders.

I want to try the Ink method on the Sisters of battle box I got for the Order of the Bloody Rose.

Go for it! I'm going to pre-shade a couple more and try a few different contrasts, the ink I used wasn't a fluor but it was still pretty damn bright lol. The clue it was too thick was probably how it clogged the airbrush....
I guess I could be boring and try the warp lightning contrast but I prefer brighter like striking scorpion green. Also gave me a reason to use my GSW liquid mask on the shoulder pads.

I watched about 50 YouTube videos and I think Kill Team will be the best way for me to start.. now I just need to decide which team to buy :)

I’m borderline obsessed with Kill Team at the moment, really enjoying it.

Struggling to find time for 40k but me and a couple of mates have been playing KT weekly for a few weeks now.

It’s also nice for painting variety, he says, while in the middle of painting MORE Deathskulls

Really like that shade of blue. ^

I did a rare temu order last night, basically got about 200 brushes for less than the cost of one of my sables. They will be disposable ones I use for oils and enamels because cba cleaning them with that stuff.

Anyone else picking up saturnine? I'm very excited for the mk2 marines

As tempting as £126 quid for that many miniatures is, nobody seems to want to play it at my local. They are all sticking with the old edition.

To be honest, I also think those weird shoulder pads look ridiculous (though more likely it's because of the rule changes), which is I'm guessing why it's selling poorly and has been heavily discounted already

Another quality Roman59© production.

I've decided to help with painting lull I'm going to just paint stuff I like the look of regardless what it is. Opens up far more options.

I think initially I'll build the DG Kill team or just a couple of models because I've seen how bad the fit is on the push to fit ones, even after shortening pins etc, and practice the grimdark style on those. The style is really growing on me generally.

Thanks for the kind words, I just liked the look of Logan, Rockfist and the Stormcaller which was the reason I picked them up.

They will look good on the shelf together :)

For someone who hasn't p-layed Wathammer 40k since 1st edition. what's the best way to get started? I don't mind buying the core rules and maybe 1 faction book,. but don't want to spend 100s and 100s on miniatures. Where do I start? what's the easiest army faction to start with?
A bit late, possibly look at Killteam as an entry?
same models, but much smaller model count and simplified rules, you can use the models in normal 40k, get some practice with painting and if you get a starting box you get two teams of 5 or so and some scenery as well iirc/

I've not actually played a propper 40k game for about 5 years now, most of my friends seemed to fall away from it an edition or two back due to the requirement to have about 4 rule books+ various often (usually very limited run) cards to make it a bit easier to remember specific rules/tactics - although they seem to have started to learn a bit about the cards (it reached the point where you needed them for say Bloodbowl but they were only available for about 15 minutes online).

I've just assembled three models from the deathguard kill team and realised that these are the most detailed models I've ever seen and each one is probably going to take me 10 years lol.

Pretyt much everything you need now is either a) free on the app or b) you add your codex to the app, so 1 book.

The cards are just quick reference, but again, available in the app :D
That's a huge improvement, last time I played I think I had to have the main book, a supplement, my army book, 2 sets of cards, and the FAQ. :)

I was chatting with a friend the other day and we strongly suspect they're using kill team to justify making new molds for some of the models that haven't been updated for decades, IIRC it's known that some of the "new" models were sculpted 10-20 years ago as several were noticed at games day displays years back and I think one of the sculptors mentioned having had one in a drawer since a cancelled release.
My friend had been using some models that hadn't been updated since the 90's/very early 00's and was very happy about it (not as happy as I was to see new kroot and vespids, the metals were awful).

You could be on to something there but I think in the specific case of the death guard it doesn't really apply because all their stuff is recent.
If anything, it's a nice way to just add some variation to standard models I guess. I'm not really into compassion kit bashing I might swap a few heads around and stuff but that's about it.
