It's too hot :(

The feels-like temp is dropping to 4°c tonight. Will keep the heater on overnight.
Amen, and it was cold last night also

Every up stairs window has been open in some capacity for weeks (upstairs in our house gets very warm very quickly), last night at about 3am went round and shut them all, and put the duvet back inside the sheet!

I'm going away to the Peak District mid August for a few days, so kind of need decent hiking weather then please! Not too hot and not too wet either, but I just know when it comes to going away in this country, the weather will just end up being the opposite of what I want

Time for another "temporary" sweltering heat wave. I had to finally close all my windows last night as I'm finding it too cold now!
So is the wife, she's been putting a blanket round her arms at night. She also drapes her dressing gown on top of the sheet when she's in bed, I'm still sleeping on top of the sheet.

The final stage of my "attempt to cool my house on the cheap without installing AC and without a big, bulky portable AC" - bought 2 ceiling fans to install in the 2 main bedrooms. My theory, particularly in the computer room, is the ceiling fan can push the hot air back down, and I can have the Vornado pointed at an open window to push what it can out the room. Probably won't make a difference, but it's about the best I can think of without AC.

Fans dont cool rooms.
They do if it's cooler outside and you place tham so they draw air in from outside, to blow into the room. ;)

We have a little Honeywell (900E?) that I used to use when on the turbo trainer, fits nicely on the window sill against the open window turned on from ~2000 on heatwave evenings.

It's currently 34C!

It is quite hot during the midday and afternoon. Very happy to have AC especially as I'm working. I think I and the laptop would struggle, that said in the lounge we leave the windows open and we have a lovely breeze but in the study I need the door closed as it has no breeze nor any shutters when the sun shines on it.

It's lovely how simple it is with just shutters and open windows you can keep the house cool. Ambient temp is around 30c using the phone's thermometer.

It's amazing how quickly you get used to the heat through. That said in the UK it would be rather crap.

Now that Storm Floris is over, are you ready for another mini heatwave this coming weekend, at least in Hampshire?

Sunday 27C, Monday 28C, with 24C+ from Fri 8th to at least Thurs 14th.

It was down to 10 deg this morning here! Looks like it's going to be a nice weekend at least, 24/25 at highest but still much cooler (12/13) in the evening.

I'm seeing a max of 24-25 degrees for this weekend, at least where I am. Though, that's much better than those oppressive 30+ temps we were getting last month, so I'll take this.
