Pc not turning on

I built a PC last September, I recently purchased a new case and an Aio for this build to replace the old case and air cooler.

After swapping the case and cpu cooler over I noticed the pc wont boot. Ive managed to narrow it down to when I tightened the aircooler block to the brackets is when it wont turn on. Same now happens with the air cooler now and it didn't before.
When I undo the screws so that its barley touching it will turn on

Im wondering if anyone knows why this might be

Many thanks

Have you perhaps bent pins on the motherboard or CPU? (you didn't mention what you have so could be either)

My motherboard is a

Asus TUF Gaming A620-Pro WIFI (Socket AM5) DDR5

And my cpu is a ryzen 7 7800x3d

It all worked fine until I replaced the cooler

The pc still turns on but only if the cpu cooler isn't making full contact with the cpu bracket. When I take the cooler off it boots every single time.

Sounds like some kind of grounding issue?

or maybe pushing down on CPU is pushing pins too hard onto the CPU socket underneath

We need pictures. Show us the CPU sitting in the socket. Then remove the CPU and take pictures of the socket.

Did you change the backplate for the socket?

Is there a way to find out which one of these it could possibly be?

For CPU pressing down perhaps just have the HSF resting ontop, not screwed into the bracket? (for testing)

But you've already mentioned tighting it causes an issue
could be combination of both, pressing down CPU bends the pins, causing a pins to short?

Did you remove the CPU inbetween the swap?

Unusual problem for sure.

Are you sure you put the cooler back on in the same way? Does it have a backplate?

It works when its justed rested on top, its as soon as I start to tighten the screws. I did remove the cpu between cooler changes

You could try with the motherboard out of the case.
Place it on the motherboard box with CPU, RAM and NVME drive. Try with the air cooler first and if that works, then try the AIO.

Are you using the correct standoffs/posts for the cooler? (if they use them)
If they are to short, it could be why it is being over tightened.

What case and AIO did you get?

What about just lightly tigthen the screws, just enough for the screws to make electrical contact with the two?

If you removed the CPU I'd say it wasn't put in straight, I'd remove CPU and try again.

I reseated the cpu once I realised it was the issue and it didn't change anything. The aio is in just enough so the screws stay in and it powers on but doesn't look like the aio and the cpu are making contact

Yeah ill give the mother board out the case a try when I'm home.

Yeah correct standoffs and post are being used.

I got the fractal design air xl
Cooler is the artec freezer 3 280mm
