Fantastic Four (2025)

Just watched it, better than all the other recent releases i've watched thunderbolts/jurassic park/superman.
Never felt bored or it dragging at any stage and felt engaged all the way!
7/10

Saw this on Sunday evening just gone, really liked it almost straight from the outset. Often movies need to be given a bit of time to get into or for it to fully click (and often, they don't even manage that) but the opening 5-10 mins was enough to get me onboard for the duration.

It seemed to be fairly light on extensive action sequences as well, which went in it's favour, as did

setting it entirely on Earth 828 (not 616)
as then you didn't have any baggage from other movies to worry about. It really was one of the more standalone MCU movies for some time IMO.

I guessed very early on that the baby would be an important plot point, though in my head I was thinking maybe he grew up to become Dr. Doom which is obviously not correct based on the post-credit sting.

I checked the run-time before going in and it seems the movie was cut from 130 mins to 115 mins just prior to release. I'm guessing there was a lot more scenes with Natasha Lyonnes character as that didn't really get much screentime at all.

I do have a question though, maybe I didn't see it correctly or missed something, but:

When the F4 first walked on to Galactus ship and just after the robot was told to take samples I'm sure there was a blink and you'll miss it bit when someone's boot was walking through some dirt/mud and there was a Fantastic 4 logo squidged in to the floor? Anyone else know what I'm talking about

8/10 or 4/5. Best MCU movie for donkeys years.

Only negatives were the very short sequence where they can't work out how to get the baby's car chair in. I get that they were going for the "LOL 3 scientists can't even work this out" but it wasn't really funny.
I also wish that post-credits scene hadn't been in Thunderbolts because most of the time I was watching the movie I had it in the back of my mind.

It'll be sad when F4 transition into the next film because it genuinely felt good to not have the constant one liner stupid marvel humour. I totally get what you mean about the baby chair.

Its just to show they are wearing boots with F4 logos, I didn't read any more into it.

Will give it an 85%. Really enjoyed it and due to the nature of the story there was legitimate jeopardy, which a lot of superhero movies lack. My son loved it. My usual test of a good movie is whether I think of it much the next day. It exceeded Superman in that regard.

Don't think thats the sort of thing a 6yr old old would pay attention to.

It is a 12a in the UK, which means under 12s can be admitted with an adult, however I would say that 6 is too young still.

Well that's the best marvel have produced in a long time. No woke nonsense, no terrible try at humour that's we've been subjected to ever since Thanos was defeated, solid. Feels so strange to watch a Marvel movie post endgame and not feel disappointed 20 mins in.

7/10.
