BRSK

Had mine installed yesterday and things are looking good so far. My PC is about 15 meters away upstairs from the router and im getting good wifi speeds (900MBps package)

Also the router they gave me is a decent one (tp-link EX820V) which allows me to change the dns to point to my pihole as well as the USB port is fully functioning so I added a network drive.

Has anyone in Manchester noticed any ipv6 weirdness since the outage the other night? I seem to intermittently lose ipv6 connectivity. Only solves when I bounce my wan interface, but I don’t know if this is just some vyos weirdness.

Ill be going with BRSK come august. I stuck with sky when gigabit came into the area as they have been absolutely solid for me for near on 20yrs.

However, when i went to gigabit, they gave me a router which wouldnt take advantage of the speed and was stuck around 400-500mb. After several routers thinking there was an issue, one of the customer service reps advised of their MAX router for an additional £5p/m. and would you believe it I received 900 down.

Its disgusting that they can sell a service and not provide the correct hardware.

Had a sales person come to my door a couple of days ago for this, promissing me £300 credit for signing up. I've had emails offering upto £300 to "buy out" my current contract, so I figured thid is what it was, but they insisted I'd get the whole £300. Didn't sound right to me & more like they were just trying to tell me anything to get a sale, but has anyone else had similar?

It will be an offer to pay you up to £300 to cover your ETF. If you don't get charged any fees then they're not going to give you £300 for fun.

That was my feeling, but she seemed adamant that it was the full £300 even if I didn't have that much left on my contract.

Not sure if she was knowingly lying to try and get a sale, or she was just mistaken.

I've recently had BRSK installed (500/500 package). Very happy! :) Test from inside my router's admin panel.

Switched away from Virgin Media (which I've been using for 15 years and more recently in the past few years, I had a damn awful experience on, so good riddance to it!)

Im having BRSK installed later this week, ive been with Virgin since the telewest days and they have just taken the micker with prices. Im still in contract, but BRSK have offered to pay off the contract. Service seems to good to be try, but ill be saving £15 a month easi;y and be getting internet thats 3 times as fast.

They said they will give a Tp link router, i have an asus GT- AX6000 already, is it worth me having the TP link over the asus?

I had a look and the BRSK pole is on the opposite side of the road infront of my house, so that should make the install easy, hopefully they are flexible, id like the thing installed in the 1st floor landing, effectively the side of the house, and thats where my router and network switch/cab are.

They'll pretty much put the ONT where ever you like, mine is at the back end of my property in the most awkward place possible, and the guy did it in the heaviest rain I've seen in a while.

Yeah, They put it where I wanted it and they got a cherry picker out to mine as very high up. I wouldn't worry about it. You may get a text message the night before from the guy that is coming to install it. That happened with me.

So is the ONT mounted where the fibre enters the building or can it be further away want mine on an internal wall.

I tested out the TPLink router and it is decent-ish, much better than anything from my previous provider (Virgin), but not as good as my ASUS RT-AX59U (even though mine only supports up to standard gigabit). However, I don't intend to go above the 1000 package (I'm currently on the 500 package).

Had it installed today. Fairly painless and the lads installed everything as per my request. The only issue has been CGNAT, hadnt realised about this, so ive ended up signing up for the fixed IP aswell, still saving a bunch over Virgin. 900mb Speed is way way way overkill, but its nice DL a 30gb file in 5 mins, i should have been sensible and gone for the 500mb, which would still been faster than what i have today.

I mean, it is cheaper than Virgin in the long run and more reliable. Yeah CGNAT can be a headache sometimes, but I signed up for the Static IP add on at the beginning.
