what headphones do you own thread - i own dt150's :)

Yup, I have done that more than once and yanked them out of my ear! I have to turn down every new pair to zero to make sure now. I almost did it with this when i plugged it into my DX5 II when I was only listening with my XS before.

I did that a few weeks ago with the TRUTHEAR x Crinacle ZERO:RED that I have. Plugged them into one of the AMPs and I had to rip the things out of my ears. Even slightly over volume was too much. You do have to be careful as you say.

Similar to you I have the above IEMs which do me. Were brilliant on the holiday to the US last year, do well for walks and occasionally come out for Switch/Steam Deck gaming but that's it. Don't need more. Maybe in a few years I'll replace them with the new hotness in the budget arena.

I have now...

Chu II
Waner 2
Kiwi Cadenza
EW300

I think that's enough! I keep the EW300 near my desk, the Kiwi in my daily backpack, the Chu II in the drawer at work and going to throw the Waner 2 in my travel kit bag. The ones I don't keep at home are basically cheap enough that if I lose or break them, I am not going to think too much about them.

That's a collection! I think if I was buying again I'd potentially look at the Truthear Pure, or the Hexa. Not lookers like some of your ones though.

Lol.

Tbh I thought the Pure would be the obvious choice. However it seems to be better in some way, but not in others. So the Hexa is probably still the play.

I still of the opinion that the EW300 is the best bang for your buck at £50. It comes with a nice case that I can fit my ONIX Alpha XI1 DAC into, full metal built and nicer cable. You can definitely see where your money is going.

For pure sound, the Waner 2 is amazing and I am on the fence spending more money than the EW300 on IEM.

I have far to many IEMS lol inc Crinear Meta,
Letshouer S12 Pro, Kiwi Ears Aether, Penon Fan 3, OG Moondrop Starfield, Crin Zero Red, Phoenixia, ISN H20, TRN Jaws, Apple AirPods Pro 2, and Zigaat Odyssey.

Oh almost forgot my Juzear Z Reviews Defiant!

Love them all. Good job I don’t have as many headphones!

I'm thinking when I get paid I'm going to either try the Truthear Pure or Crinear Daybreak. Something I can take on walks, so my old body stops doing this falling apart thing it's insistent upon.

Every evening I got for a 3k-5k walk (depending on route), and I just use my Nothing Ear (2). I keep meaning to take one of the wired IEM but I can't bring myself to do it because I check my phone when walking so rather there is no cable flopping around in front. If the phone is in my pocket at all times then I would feed it under my t-shirt down to my front jeans pocket.

This is a superb song, that bass is immense, the LCD definitely seems to have a more weighty bass than the HE1000se, but the HE has more bass resolution, it's like the LCD punches low, and so does the HE, but the punch is "felt" more with the LCD, whereas the subtle detail in that bass is clearer on the HE. hard to pick a winner between the two as they are both aiming for different things.
Another good track. Lovely voice.

I like my IEMs as well, I'm thinking of grabbing the Hexa Pure also, I have the original Hexa and it's a great IEM, kinda of like a mini blessing 2 in some respects, but it can sound a little glaring in the lower treble, actually similar to the Blessing 2 also, if the Pure fixes this it would be a great daily drivers, one of my favourite budget IEMs is the Crinacle ZERO:RED, they are such an easy listen and great price to performance, no glare at all.

My current IEMs,

TinHiFi T2 (The one that started on this road)
Blon BL-05S
Aria snow edition
Tinhifi P1 MAX Panda
Turthear Hexa
7Hz Timeless
AFUL Performa 8
Sennheiser IE600 (My fav thus far under 1k, amazing all rounder)

sold Blessing 2, not great fit and way too strident and lean in the upper mids/lower treble which made too many tracks unlistenable.

The 505s are growing on me a bit - think putting a few hours of music through them does seem to have slightly opened them up - don't think it is my ears adjusting to them. Treble is still a touch aggressive though. Bit of a tease for the HD600s as they have some of the DNA but lack that tonality and lingering of the 600s but far more comfortable than the 600s for longer sessions.

Also ordered replacement parts for my newer 600s as the foam inserts are falling apart and the memory foam has gone limp - have kept putting off doing it.

The hottest DAC/AMP besides the K15 is the DX5II from Topping, in my opinion, with its competitive pricing and solid implementation. Compared to the Topping DX5 II, the K15 is less sterile and more engaging.

The DX5 II leans drier and more clinical, especially in the upper mids and treble, where it can occasionally sound a bit too forward. The K15 has better layering, more realistic midrange texture, and a more musically pleasing overall signature.

Glad to see my impressions of the DX5 II are mirrored here, although he's a bit more polite about the sound of the DX5 II lol.

If this X9 ever fails down the line then at least I know a K15 can be put into the shopping cart if the K13 R2R doesn't quite deliver. K15 might not have output memory profiles but at least you can save custom PEQ profiles and manually switch to them depending on headphones being used. I don't think the K13 R2R has any PEQ as not seen it mentioned anywhere.

I bet the K15's sound would be even closer if not identical to K17 (AKM Velvet after all...) if a linear PSU is used instead of using the bundled one.

The DX5II is like half the price of the K15 though, bargain really.

Plus the DX5II is sexier on the desk, especially in White. :D

By the same measure we could say that the K15 is half the price of the K17 though, yet it doesn't compromise or change from the K17's sound signature much at all whereas the DX5 II strays away from the Topping house sound that I've been familiar with for a few years!
