From the bottom to the top.... :D

Depths of despair on Saturday to a 2 & 1 win tonight in the quarter finals...

Tough game against 1.7 handicapper. I got 4 shots - level at half way.... I won 10, we halved 11 and 12 - I had a disgusting up and down on 12 for par from thick thick rough....

I won 13 with a shot - he parred 14 to take that. We both made a bit of a mess of the par 5 15th - I had a shot but we halved it.

I holed a great 20ft for par on 16th and he followed with a solid 6ft putt for par. Still 1up to me.

17th tee, par 3, 148 yards slightly downwind..... PERFECT number for 8 iron.... ahhh - that's the one club that's currently in the pro's shop getting reshafted after Saturdays root damage...:cry:

Hit a "chippy" 7 iron, nice but ran off the back edge... he putts up to 6ft in 2..... I play a lovely 7 iron chip and run down the green from about 30ft away - never looked like missing - in for 2....

Good game - played well. Need to try and figure out what was the difference between tonight and Saturdays terrible golf....

well guys. eureka moment!!

just back from then range, (have my lesson tomorrow) and I put into practice about my swing tempo.. I have a really fast backswing and then fast pulling down..so I I conditioned myself to a slowww steady backswing and the faster tempo on the downswing..now, not all, but most when I applied this, my game has changed guys..I mean seriously, it has.

I always thought my carry was low on my launch monitors but no, they were on, and when I applied this tempo, I'm averaging around, probably around 10-15+ yards per club!

My bad shots are still in bounds and up there, and when I get it right, bullet straight, I honestly am over the moon! but I do realise that my muscle memory will take time to change my "grip it and rip it" mentality

So will report back tomorrow after my lesson which is at noon.

Out for 9 holes last night - first time playing a skins match - no shots given, straight up game. Won 6 of them :D

Put some good shots together, 2 iron off the tee wasn't working great, but resolved that - same as the rest of my irons, tempo was the issue. I have a habit of early extension, so if I get "snappy" then the mishits/shanks come in - but on the 9th I just swung smoothly, bullet straight, 315 down the middle. Perfect.

The work continues, but working back towards single digits - 11.7hcp.

Had to happen at some point...

After my win on Tuesday night, my mate who I play with most weeks and doubles partner was due to play his quarter final tie tonight but the other guy is injured and has conceded.

So my v him in the club Singles Semi finals... Played tons of golf together but never a proper tie against each other. Should be interesting - will be getting it arrange in the next few weeks. I would currently get 1 shot off him as he's 4.8 currently

Off to Crail tomorrow for an open comp at Craighead Links, looking forward to it albeit forecast tomorrow is 40+mph gusts all day so will likely be brutal stuff. Then, Sun playing Cruden Bay for a comp, can't wait for that! Zero expectations for either just happy for the opportunity to play both courses

Playing in Fife tomorrow as well, showing as rain and 20mph winds until about 10am for me tomorrow and 40 mph winds and no rain from about 10am. I'm off at 07:40 so hopefully the rain won't be too bad and can get through about 12 holes before the wind comes in. Going to make it tough for the later tee times.

Yeah I'm packing my shorts, my fleece top and my factor 50! Enjoy.

Played balcomie loads of times but I think I've only went round Craighead once and that would have been around 12-15 years ago, will be interesting

Seniors v Juniors game tonight....

We won 4-2 in the end.... 6 Fourball better ball ties...

Didn't get off to a great start in my game - 4 down thru 5 to a couple of 14 year olds!! Saying that one of them hitting 5 iron as far as I hit 3w!!

However birdies from me on 11/16/17 won the match 2&1....

Great fun, some excellent young lads in the club and no doubt will go on to be very solid golfers....

League season is over and we have been relegated as expected after losing most of our scratch section of the team this year - but I finished the season with a win and then a half in the last.match

Booked a lesson in a couple weeks time to try and sort my driver out as it just doesn't give me any confidence at the moment

Then the next day after that we are heading up to play Southerners, Dumfries and Powfoot over a few days with some of the couples from our club mixed section - should be fun as I enjoy links golf

Great fun courses... Southerness can be tough going if the wind blows mind you

Yeah, I can imagine it would be

We are playing the day before an Open event, so expecting the course to be in good but tough conditions

We did try to get it as our second day course as we are staying in Dumfries, but obviously couldn't due to the tournament being held on that day, so it will be an earlier start in the Sunday to get there seeing as we pretty much have to go up to Dumfries to come back down to Southerners but it it can't be helped

Back from the DK North East Open swing.

Sat: Crail - Craighead Links. >40mph wind it was complete and utter carnage I think in Div2 there were only 4 or 5 guys better than +10nett and around half were NRs, including me, I NR'd at the first! Stayed for the full 18 but at least 3 of the holes were unplayable and a few others borderline.

Sun: Cruden Bay. Absolutely stunning up there today, superb course. Some really quirky and unique holes and a few that are absolutely bonkers. Conditions were far better today, about a 2 club wind blowing. Having played Trump International a few times I'd say for the views and quirkiness,.Cruden Bay beats it in those respects. Anyways as far as the golf was concerned I played well, rode my luck a few times when I was struggling and played some really good stuff too. Finished Nett 71 for Even Par and that was good enough to sneak 5th place in their open for the Div2 category. So I think that'll be nearly 20% of the spider ZT recuperated! :)

Much the same where I was playing, I had to play the first few holes in the rain as well which 100% did not help. I had a few blow up holes which completely wrecked the card but on the positive side I got £50 in the magic two's.

Same, very windy Saturday - Played Saturday over the "smaller" course at our place.... Current handicap is 5.8.... I get 3 shots over Seafield!!!

1st is a 215 yard par 3, massively sloping green right to left from an elevated tee... Crazy opener... Doubled the first so that's 2 of my 3 shots gone already

Was hanging on to a score till I lost a ball on 13th. Saw it bounce on opposite fairway - walked over - nothing... couldn't find it anywhere.... Never considered hitting another as I saw it bounce/land etc...So NR for me

Saying that - 3 birdies on Friday in team match and 1 on Saturday makes it 47 for the year (not counting bounce / practice games) so nearing the 50 challenge now.

After this weekend, I have finally entered Single Figures...
It's such a short coming of the handicap system imo though, the course I play is rated 114. To me it's stupidly easy.

If I played another course around the 125 mark, I'd get about 1 or 2 shots more max, but I know for a fact, not knowing the course and it being so much harder I'd struggle to get round in lead than 15.

I'm off on a two-day golf trip on Sunday/Monday and we've all been asked to bring a small prize so most holes will have a prize of some form, £10-15 but not sure what to get? A bunch will likely be alcohol but I don't drink so generally prefer something else but a sleeve of balls just seems so boring...

Any thoughts? Most of the people are regular golfers so a lot of the 'golf gift' packs will be utterly useless so really not sure what to get...

Sleeve of balls / or a nice ball marker from somewhere

Discount card at Druids.

// damn just checked. The minimum gift card is £25

Maybe a bucket hat. As then thin or fat people can win it and it will still fit.

This in large and hope that the big guy doesn't win it.

One of these... Its the best accessory I've ever bought and it's cheap as

Novelty golf head cover.
