Hi all,

Looking to upgrade my pc, would like to get some recommendations on what to upgrade and what to buy....I'm thinking power supply to 850w and graphics card but because of my case size I'm limited to a GPU smaller than 300mm. Anything else you'd recommend would be greatly appreciated!

Chassis Corsair iCUE 220T RGB

Motherboard ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING

Processor AMD Ryzen 9 3950X 3.5GHz 16-Core with SMT

CPU Cooler 3XS 240mm AIO Liquid Cooler

Memory 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 3200MHz DDR4

Graphics Card 11GB EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti BLACK EDITION

Power Supply Corsair RM650x – 80PLUS GOLD

System Drive 2TB Intel 660p M.2 SSD

Networking Intel LAN & ASUS Wi-Fi

Operating System Microsoft Windows 10

What are you upgrading for, or do you want to achieve with the upgrade?

If gaming, what resolution do you play at and which games?

Thanks for reply! Im primarily playing COD and black myth Wukong and just noticing lag at higher specs causing the games to simply crash. Ideally want to keep the case the same as I have small desk

the 2080ti is still decent, and around the performance level of the 5060, except the 2080ti has more VRAM and so it should provide smoother framerates

for games, your limiting component is the CPU.
if you don't need the cores, then i would just swap to a 5700x3d and call it a day
(will need a motherboard bios upgrade before you swap in the new chip)

You could consider selling the 2080ti and swapping it out for a 9070 if you primarily play CoD, it absolutely loves AMD cards, but honestly you still have a very solid system.

It also tends to like X3D cache to help manage lows and can make for a much smoother and more consistent experience.

That's a substantial improvement over a 2080ti.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £507.98 (includes delivery: £7.99)

Under 300mm in length, should be fine on your existing PSU. Your CPU might not be the best fit with it, but as mentioned if you don't use the cores just slap in a 5700X3D, you'd probably get most of the cost back from selling your current CPU.

Appreciate your recommendation and considering I don't use all the cores reckon I will go ahead with the CPU swap. Never considered selling my existing CPU and graphics card which would save a lot of money!

If you're uncomfortable selling online with places like Ebay or what have you, CeX actually buy hardware for either vouchers or cash. Obviously you wont get as much going that route, but it's a pretty safe bet and less hassle.

I find trying to sell on local market places the best middle ground unless you have access to something like the OCUK MM, but that's 1000 + posts and some some other requirements. If you've not done that before I'd suggest demanding cash and taking the time to look over what's handed, they're the sort of things people tend to try to scam you with more than selling old furniture or whatever.

(I hope this isn't in breach of any forum rules, as I'm talking about selling rather than buying)
