I've got a nasty case of horsetail that invaded from a neighbouring garden and woudl like to get rid as it has taken over.

Anyone got any experience of a professional service that would do this in the North-east (NE12).

Cheers,
M

Happily this stuff doesn't hurt you - and in fact is apparently even used in ancient remedies. Its a proper mess in my garden tho. Tempted to pave the whole lot with 2 feet of concrete! :D

That's what I use and it definitely works.

triclopyr is what you need, it's more targeted so safe to spray on grass and other bedding plants.

If you did decide to DIY, do it on a dead calm day so it doesnt drift and you will be fine. Buy the blue dye that shows where you are covering.

Dont spray anywhere near a Pond, ever.

Parents garden has it. Fought with it for years and it’s a bugger, I just rip it out when it goes large. May try that weed killer next year.

Currently dealing with horsetail, it's an absolute nightmare apparently the root systems can be meters underground

We have it through our lawn as well so don't want to use the nuke method but this is what works for us.

SBK Brushwood mixed as per the instructions in a backpack sprayer with a massive squirt of washing up liquid which helps it stick to the plant.

I couldn't get a large sprayer of SBK, so went for a couple of smaller hand spray bottles. I've used one of these on an area of the problem and will await the results. All ok and I'll get a proper spray bottle and give it a right good seeing to!

Thank you everyone for the advice/help/knowledge. :)
