Competitor apparently going bump

Could be less choice in the future then.

happening all over the world, PC stores are closing down everywhere and the market is consolidating. Margins on PC hardware are tiny and the cash flow required to keep the business running is enormous

Pc stores are not alone of course, the exact same consolidation is happening with other electronics and appliances

That big German PC retailer a while back had their financing cut off for a month or two and the lack of cash flow nearly killed them, they were quickly ran out of stock and were unable to buy new stock

I've just seen which company this relates to. Good riddance!

I bought a Samsung TV from them years ago that was advertised as UK DVB-T2 but when I received it I couldn't get HD channels. After contacting Samsung for support they advised it was the EU version that should not be sold in the UK. When I told the retailer this they denied it and were adamant they had sold me a UK version, even when I showed them the model number and reply from Samsung. I tried to post a review on their site to warn others to check the model number and they blocked it.

Good riddance to bad rubbish!

Well I contacted my CC company this morning about starting a section 75 and they'e basically said to give it fifteen days, try calling them (phone lines are busy), try emailing them (done), and to see if an administrator or the like puts up a helpline/website.

Their website was totally down when I tried an hour or so ago, but have now partially been ("My Orders", i.e. my order history, is down) restored.

Wait and see now, I guess, though I'm not holding any breaths.

I had a bad experience trying to order a £400+ new PC monitor years ago from Amazon in the past, I had wrong item delivered first try, and the next few tries all mysteriously were "delivered" but never turned up. At the time Electronic Buyer was the only place I could find the same monitor at the same price, ordered it and delivered first try on the next day.

Since then I refused to even consider Amazon for any large computing/electrical items, I'll stick to OCUk or the others as long as I can.
yes, there are obvious benefits to buying from OCUK other than price from elsewhere, I guess that it depends who has stock sometimes too

Saw a lad down the road with the company name written on the back of a football shirt… turns out they sponsor Bolton Wanderers. I guess they’re gonna need to find someone new. There’s another competitor on the same commercial estate as the football club, maybe they can go begging there.

Surprised to see, got me a couple of GPU's in the pandemic shortage and used them a few times a year since for stuff that OC doesn't offer. No issues with delivery, though never had to RMA so can't comment on that.

I avoid buying anything valuable off the tropical flea market if I can, so I'm a little sad to lose one of the 3 main retailers.

Used them a lot over the years and been solid, got m 9070 xt from them for 570 so wonder how that affects my warranty as it was with them. hmm

So, you click on their old link and you get a page with their old name, and a "Coming Soon. Can't Wait? Discover. *New Company Name*"

Also has a link to Studio. So guessing they have been bought by Frasers Group

havnt used for a long time... actually since beige case days and blank CDs... they diverged to much into other crap

Surprised when I saw the new site points you to sofas but looking at who's bought them not surprised now seeing which brands they own.
