Thunderstorms 2025

Found out that the longest lightning recorded is 515 miles across the US... well there, you learn something new every day.

Sporadic lighting across the south at the moment - could hear it faintly in the distance despite so far none within a few miles of me.

Thought today felt a bit thundery.

I had headphones on while gaming a while ago and I wondered if I hear thunder, apparently there's been a handful a strikes near Eastleigh showing on

Got a massive rolling thunderstorm and rain/hail over Surrey...

Just had a real belter (close) lightning strike.. the air moved through the house, could feel the boom and it echo'd for ages.

Well, having a full sun forecast and eating outside, I wasn’t expecting a thunderstorm! Crazy weather.

Edit: chucking it down now. Managed to get everything inside just in time.

Possible thunder this afternoon, it's all kicking off south of Brum with ~5 strikes a few minutes ago! :p

A band of thunder has moved towards Birmingham from the south coast, during the afternoon, not loads but more than on Wednesday.

There was the odd strike in Hampshire towards Portsmouth, but I didn't hear it in SO18.

Epic rain with a few bangs going through Bristol this morning.
Tell me about, I had nodded off again after a bad night's sleep. The rain helps with that until that first massive bang, think I gave myself whiplash sitting up so suddenly .

Eased off a bit now a sound further away now (North Bristol).

Had a brief but fierce storm pass through last night. One Bolt of lightning struck pretty central town 250m away ish and that was one hell of a boom :p

Closest Ive heard for a long time.
